Karloff Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 My back couldn't handle lifting the 2x12 Avatar cab anymore so I sold it. Got the bottom Orange 112 cab off of Reverb.com. got it for such a good price had money left over to pay for the bulk of the cost of the Creamery's Firebird pickups. My wife asked " are they the same size ?" told her "yep, it's just an optical delusion". Now I have a mini stack.

rct Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Sweet. Wait. Citrusy. No. Wait. Juicy. Juicy Sweet. That's it. rct
Mr. C.O. Jones Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Congratz, looks really cool with that lovely SG! And yeah, exept you shoot the pic with the cam in a lower position and pointing upwards, you get that tiny bottom cab effect. Something I always wondered, is is there a difference soundwise between a 2x12 and two 1x12. Your Avatar had Vintage 30's too, right? If so, do you hear any significant difference? I ask because many say that there is a big difference, fuller soundig, bigger, moves more air etc. Anyway, enjoy your "new" ministack, those cabs sound delicious!
merciful-evans Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Bull plop! The top cab is larger! Congrats btw. Looks good! The bottom cab is just compressed under the collective weight. It'll spring back easy enough. and yeah... It does look the business Karloff!
kidblast Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 nice score man! sweet, (and easier to move) rig now. Rock on -- with less back pain --...

CO, yes, the Avatar had Vintage 30's in it . it had a deeper, fuller sound. The Avatar contemporary 2x12 and 4x12 cabs are identical to the Orange cabs in size and styling. But I also really like the sound of these Orange 1x12 cabs. they sound great and VERY easy on the back.

Thanks Ray. my old 4x12 Marshall cab in it's roadcase was easier to load than the 2x12 Avatar, because of its height, all I had to do was lean it over against the tailgate of my truck and slide it in. I had to actually lift the 2x12.
quapman Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Very nice! I'm into lightweight these days myself. I've played through a couple orangies. They both sounded great.
Pesh Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Nice stack! Looks very good. Make some noise good sir!

And if someday I'm able to find some likeminded idiot's to form some sort of band, I may take a closer look at an Orange PPC212 but the open back version, should be also lighter on the back. I'm very curious about those. And if there would have been a version of the AD30 with loop I probably wouldn't have even thought about the Rockerverb or Thunder series. I hope to find a used AD15 or 30 for a good price someday.
