Don't listen to him BK

I'm quite happy to listen to one of your songs a day

Brilliant as usual. And your taste in music is also fantastic

I've already forgiven you for the haircut in the other thread

I know this is a Gibson forum , but holy smoke , a Martin is a wonderful thing to hear

Thanks!

I had thought I had run out of tunes to do a while back, but I came out of a shop with a Bob Dylan Songbook and I could do 2 posts a day with that!

My iMac says I have done nearly 400 recordings, I think those are since I got my truly delightful Allen & Heath 4 channel mixer.

I post a lot of them, secret benefit for me is I can play them on my iPad and I may as well post some of them here to annoy everyone! Don't like? Read something else - no skin off!

But I have learned a real lot by going through the posting tracks thing....thanks everyone that has listened and commented. I also recommend it for the guitarists that feel like they would like to record and post tracks - give it a go!

First, find a suitable tune - harder than it looks. Next, come up with something to play. Then an arrangement is needed. Vocals. Play through. Record. Computer files..... Load to internet. Quite a lot going on and I have a handle on it now!

Now, the HD28v.... It is the hardest of my guitars to record and beyong my recording expertise in the EQ and compression fields. I play it a lot for these kind of tunes, but it is hard to capture the power of it in a home recording - the track above, I played with the skin of my thumb mainly. A pick would have spun everything out. It also has rattling 2nd and 3rd fret that I have been meaning to get replaced.....

Saturday morning here!

That was just exquisite, BK! Man, that guitar sounds lush. What I especially love about your offerings is how connected you are with the guitar du jour; you've got mad skills, yes, but your touch is something else. Just awesome, sir. Geez...

That was the bees knees.A great interpretation of a great song BK.Beautiful guitar.I noticed one of our Sydney guitar shops Gladesville Guitar Factory has a Collings Waterloo (the X braced L-00 copy) in stock?

Have you ever played one?I noticed you had a thread about their Stella copy.

Also BIg Music in Chatswood has a Martin Retro 00-15 with Aura..I'd like to try that too.

Thanks Anne and FB!

Sunday morning coming down here....early and cold and quiet.

The guitar - I bought it used a couple of years back, 2006 Martin HD28v. I had my used OM18v and it was the first guitar I had owned with a perfect for me hated by many Mod V neck with 2 3/8" bridge spacing - just sensational for space while fingerpicking. So, I was at a guitar shop and asked to try other Martins with the Mod V but they had just stopped making that neck and the V series and replaced most new guitars with the 'High Performance Neck'. So the guitar guy scratched his head, said they didn't have anything, but then remembered the used HD28v for sale on consignment. I didn't really want a dread, preferring smaller boxes for blues fingerpicking, BUT, I played it thinking'Hmmmmm' firstly, then 'Oh Oh, I'm confused'.....it was like a wonderful, warm....piano? I went home.

I was back at the shop 3 or 4 months later getting strings, why do I do that? It was still there! The back had lots of buckle rash and the front had lots of big sweeping pick marks and the neck had worn frets - a well played geetar that obviously scared off the normal guitar buyer, but that sound...... Take it! Do some work on my inner Neil!.....Bob.... And here I am doing that track above - mostly strummed with my bare thumb, which takes a fair bit of practice to get a callous and not hurt. [crying]

FB, I would like to get in that Gladesville shop - but every time I do an internet search for stuff, their name comes up with the highest price, but they just seem to have EVERYTHING! I have played a Waterloo, first b&w model, for a few minutes. It was....b&w! Raw Charlie Patton ladder braced LG1 plunker with identical spacings to your/my OM18v. Total opposite of the D28. Perfect for 30s blues sound, but not very versatile. If you have cash burning a hole, get on down and buy/try that one and the 00-15 Retro because while not rare, they are fairly hard to find in these parts. The Retro has the Aura inbuilt like my D18e, and probably wasting your money if you are not gigging/recording with it. Same money could almost get you a delectable vintage 0-17 or 00-17!

That was a long winded answer - lately the forum has been crashing when answering, so I hope I don't have to peck all that on my iPad again.... [mellow]

Hey man,

That was over the top ! Excellent ! Actually, I didn't even think of what guitar you were using. The songs are the capturing moments as well.

By the way, I would like to thank you for a very valuable lesson about timing ! "Get everything moving and know your material !"

Thanks !

Sounds like there is a standing ovation here!

Thanks for that, TOS!

I had a listen to my track just then and it sounds a bit like those tunes they put at the end of a movie when they drive off into the distance as the credits roll. A bit melancholy.

Next, back to some chirpy ragtime blues I love to play, and nobody else likes, maybe.
