Yard Iron

My ol' trusty '48 Ford 8N with a 226 c.i.d. 6-cyl flathead (known as a Funk conversion). I just put flat-free tires and wheels on the 6-ft. finish mower this spring. Time to hit the field again, maybe next weekend...

Living on a "farm" I have all of those plus couple of ride-on mowers and a tractor with necessary implements, slasher, rotary hoe, carry-all, ripper.

Sorry no pics.

msp_thumbup.gif I'm with Rob. I have a lot more then that. John Deere riding lawn more, 42" deck, self propelled 24" lawn mower. All what's in your truck, 2 wood chipers, acetylene torch, pressure washer, 2 air tanks for car tires, complete set of chest set of tools for when I used to drag race, propane torpedo to heat the garage when working in the winter, 2 airless Grego paint sprayers. Plus all the painting tools when I used to paint houses, 3 different size ladders, tallest one goes up to about 36'. Step ladders, wheel barrel, car ramps, Jack stands, gas powered weed whips, vac blowers, side walk gas powered edger,....and more. Too much to list. But don't have any photos of it all.

BBP you got some nice stuff there. You don't get much better than a Stihl chainsaw and those Echo weed wackers are pretty kick a$$ too.

I've moved from the country to the city so I don't have anything left for yard iron. Had me a JD LX255 mower with the snow blower attachment which was pretty sweet. And all the other yard iron required to maintain my old yard of 200x120.

But my hats off to C-RAM. That ole tractor is the epitome of "yard iron". That is some sweet yard iron right there.

Nice!! I had a Massey 135 gas powered for awhile for bushhogging. But I didn't really use it enough to justify having to work on it all the time.

"Working" on my 8N is wholly therapeutic - it's comforting to be able to fall back on your acquired knowledge and actually ACCOMPLISH something; a points distributor, alternator, gravity-fed carburetor... these are all things I miss when I look in the engine compartment of a modern vehicle.

Just getting out to turn a wrench on a weekend - a simple oil change, new plugs, a new belt, check timing, clean filters, lube some joints - it's good for the soul.

This is the handiest piece of equipment out at my hunting / camping land. I haul chainsaws, weedeaters, batterys, boards, bags of concrete, solar panels, everything with it. Getting a dump trailer next week so I can do some road work.

I could have never built this solar powered aeration system in the middle of the woods without it....
