Buc McMaster
I was rummaging through a box of old junk in the attic today and found a copy of a studio version of Helldorado that I had forgotten I had. I think we did this sometime in 2012 but I'm not sure of that. The melody is slightly different on this take than the previous solo posting of this tune..........have no idea when it changed to what it is today. I do remember not having a good vocal day when we did this and was not particularly happy with the result in that regard, but the recording was not for any kind of release so......... Jack, Rick and Chip do a wonderful job on this! Kind of a Marty Robbins flavor to it with these guys. This is how I hear my writing fleshed out with players that know exactly what they are doing.......I was just along for the ride really digging what these guys were doing! Thought you folks might like to hear a somewhat polished version of one of these things I've been posting.............roll tape! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu3eOIeygEM Grabbed some gunfighter images off the web and cobbled this together. MissouriPicker
Loved it. Nothing wrong with the vocals to my ears. This kind of stuff is fun to listen to. Reminds me of Sons of The Pioneers and Riders of The Purple Sage. [thumbup]

E-minor7
I recall this lifey and funny tune from earlier. But for some reason in a slower version. Anyway - classic story-telling put into song. Time to write the sequel. . ?

Buc McMaster
Thanks folks! Just realized that Jack plays the only guitar track in this mix, on a clunky old nylon string that was leaned in the corner of the studio. I had done a steel string acoustic track, but in the end it just seemed to clutter things up and was removed. The wife asked me this morning when I did this as she'd not heard it before. Well that made me realize that it could't have been in 2012 but more likely in '06 or '07, before we married..........older recording than I thought. Sequel? I dunno 'bout that............. kidblast
Cool stuff Buc. nothing wrong with the vocals there, and pretty spot on playing for that kind of song.. ....it's left me looking for a shot (or three) of tequila and perhaps donkey to ride around on.... what is up with that?
