IanHenry Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 This morning I had an operation on my left hand to try to cure some of the deformities that have appeared over the last couple of decades. Its surprising how the loss of the use of one hahd effects your life. Typing (I keep missing capitols out) fastening my shirt buttons etc are a pain. My hands about the size of a small rugby ball now. oh and photography isn't so great one handed. Ian
quapman Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Thank god you can still touch yourself!!!! You just give, and give, and give. And I thank you!
capmaster Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Oh my... Be careful and patient to support a quick recovery. I think there are better times to come than you had recently.
Rabs Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Ohh man... Well hopefully it will all be worth it in the end... Good luck with it man..
rct Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Thank god you can still touch yourself!!!! Thank You for your service. rct
SteveFord Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 What's the prognosis when the healing is complete?
pippy Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Wishing you a full and speedy recovery to better than it was 20 years ago, Ian! I have on-and-off issues so know sort-of from where you speak... Thank god you can still touch yourself!!!! Thank you, Bill. I really needed that image....... Pip.
Dennis G Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 OUCH! Ouch is right! A few years ago my right hand had an argument with a kitchen mandolin (no, it doesn't have 8 strings, just one motha of a sharp blade...google it) and my right hand lost - surprise! Took about 1/8th inch off of my thumb, index and middle finger. Couldn't play for a month or so. Took the opportunity to brush up on some theory. Best of luck on a speedy recovery. And yes, I now use the finger guard on said mandolin, and found out (the hard way) that if you're bleeding real bad you go to the front of the line at the ER.
kelly campbell Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Ouch, Hope your recovery goes well and you are back playing soon
Mr. C.O. Jones Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 That pic brings some unpleasant memories from last summer..... I broke the proximal phalanx of my left hand's ring finger. Worst thing about it, it was just a few days after I got my 14 Trad. I wish you a quick and most important full recovery!
IanHenry Posted July 23, 2016 Author Posted July 23, 2016 Many Thanks for the kind words everyone. The op was timed so that I could fit a gig in last Saturday, luckily the surgeon is learning to play guitar and was very helpful. At some stage I've got to have my right hand done, I can't pretend that I'm looking forward to that Ian
badbluesplayer Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 +1 on the "Ouch." I hope you're recovery goes well. Hang in there!

jdgm Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Ouch. From what you say it had to be done though... Best wishes for a speedy recovery - I'm sure it must be worrying but it sounds like you had the ideal chap to do it!
