JuanCarlosVejar Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Folks, I had not ordered any new guitars since my 2014 000 28k . After a series of emails with Jeremy at Fuller's Vintage Guitar, I decided to get one of the new Epiphone Olympic Archtops in Honeyburst. It does not come left handed but they will convert the guitar for me. JC
MorrisrownSal Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 1) good for you JC. Congrats. 2) what guitars are these? I have not heard of them...
sparquelito Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Whatever they are, this guy here plays the $hit out of one.
bayoubengal1954 Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 1) good for you JC. Congrats. 2) what guitars are these? I have not heard of them... Very cool, Juan Carlos! Sal, here they are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30IenSBO19c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEjFtxbc0EA
kelly campbell Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Sweetwater had one yesterday..a Zenith or something like that. I had never seen or heard of them. Very different beast..it would take some adjusting the bridge down for me. I do really like the sound and yeah that guy plays the hell out of it. Congratulations on you purchase you will love it , I would guess.
vacamartin Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 JC............let us know what it's like unplugged. I've got my eye on that same model, but haven't heard it unplugged. Thanks..
JuanCarlosVejar Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 JC............let us know what it's like unplugged. I've got my eye on that same model, but haven't heard it unplugged. Thanks.. I guess here they demo it unplugged (But I don't like the guys playing style): Thanks VM & everyone else !! JC
Buc McMaster Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 They sure have sex appeal, don't they? At about 1:09 in the second video above there's a good acoustic chord strummed, no amplification. It's the sound hole model and it does have that arch top sound.....a bit thin, but tight and loud. For amplified stage work these sound quite nice and would be their main application, I'd think. Like the guy said in the video: I'd look pretty good on stage with this..... Let us know what you think after you've settled with it!
vacamartin Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I guess here they demo it unplugged (But I don't like the guys playing style): Thanks VM & everyone else !! JC JC........that was plugged in.....
blindboygrunt Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 They're lively guitars Think they're made to be plugged in. Can't imagine the acoustic tone to be fantastic
bayoubengal1954 Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 JC........that was plugged in..... You're correct except in the middle of the review (at the 3:17 mark) that guitar is unplugged (it is the Zenith not the Olympic that JC is getting, though).

zombywoof Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 That new line of Masterbilt Century Epiphone archtops does look mighty tasty and a lot of guitar for the bucks. If I had not recently finished putting a 1950s Epi Triumph Regent back on the road, I might be looking at one of the new round soundhole archtops. In fact, I still might go and give one or two a good look-see. I have never bought a new guitar so one of these might just be my first.
JuanCarlosVejar Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 Yup.....but it is the Olympic I was asking JC about. My bad . I could have sworn the Olympic was unplugged ! If I find a new video before I get the guitar I'll post it JC

telemaster03 Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Intriguing guitars, it will be interesting to see what you think of it.
Pesh Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I'd like some places in the UK to start with them; haven't seen a thing yet from any UK stores!
