BluesKing777
After owning the BK for nearly 10 years, it now has a flight case.... The Blues King initially came in a yellow BK Gig Bag only. I have asked, many have asked and I have read and many have read - "Which hard case fits the BK L-00?" And frankly, the answers have been well, rubbish Last November, a friend came over to show me his used Blues King in the %$%#$#$% perfect fit flight case he bought at the music shop I go to ALL the time, except he TOOK his BK in there to try the cases. I wanted one then and there!! Give Me! Give Me! Give Me! Please give me a hardcase that fits my Blues King! Nope....SOLD OUT! And while I was there buying strings the other day, there it was... [biggrin] Ladies and Gentleman, the Hiscox Liteflite Pro II Medium Classical flight case: http://www.elderly.com/hiscox-liteflite-pro-ii-gguitar-case.htm AND because of the case shape, it also fits a medium classical, a vintage L-0, a LG3, a LG1 and last but not least my Martin CEO7!!!!!!! All taking a turn each! P.S. did I say the black cases are sold out, possibly worlwide? ONE white one left....ha ha. BluesKing777.

BluesKing777
Have you hit it with a sledgehammer yet ? No, but on the weekend, we are going to run over my friend's Hiscox with his car! B) With HIS Blues King in it, of course. Then if it survives that we will try the Hiscox with his wife standing on it! BluesKing777.

BluesKing777
Haha I hope he's not reading this forum Or more importantly, I hope she's not reading this forum Yes, I probably should not have said that, but I was running on adrenalin after braving the freeway in the rain with me the only car driver in this little insignificant machine amongst massive B Double semi trailers (2 large trailers), all belting along as fast as allowed. Then, fearsome most of all, walking in the music shop with horse blinkers on as I know they have a few used items (ahem) of interest down the other end of the shop that may or may not include a 1944 Gibson J45, a Hummingbird TV, a Martin OM42 et al. Left shop with case ASAP. BluesKing777.

BluesKing777
After reading all the guff and threads on Hiscox, I wonder how my Blues King survived this long without one... And last week as I was leaving a friend's house with a dread in a larger Hiscox, I totally missed a step down, banged a wall not once but 3 times with the case and to top off the case test, hit my car twice as I was packing it in the back! After watching the various case test videos, I might apply for a job at Fedex as guitar case basher. BluesKing777.

jedzep
Can you hook me up with the case model #? That Hiscox price is redic. If it withstood just one wife standing on it that would be fine. Mothers-in-law however... Big thanks!

If it withstood just one wife standing on it that would be fine. Mothers-in-law however... Big thanks! The model number is linked in the first post, JZ, but the only one left in the world at this time that I could find is the ivory finish one at Elderly.... Hiscox Liteflite model for BK, L-00, LG, Martin CEO7 is the classical size case, which comes in 3 sizes, small, medium, large. I got the medium which is a tight fit, look for the classical large for more breathing room. Pro II - GCL - S, M, L. Mesurements on the Hiscox and Elderly site. Here are the terrifying Hiscox testimonials: http://www.hiscoxcases.com/testimonials.htm I have most of the family covered with a Hiscox Pro II dread case, a Hiscox OM/000 ARTIST case and the Hiscox Pro-II Classical Medium case. The dread case will hold a Martin Dread OR a Gibson J45 nicely - because of the shape design. BluesKing777.

I ordered and bought a Gibson case for my BK L-00 from my local Gibson dealer. It is the case that comes with the 2016 L-00 Standard. Easy-peasy. A multi-thousand dollar guitar in a wobbly budget case....hmmmm. OK for at home as long as the case is not knocked or falls over All kidding aside the Hiscox is a travel case, more expensive in the US as they are made in Great Britain, but most guitars travel somewhere, don't they? [smile] Found an old thread on AGF that seems reasonably sensible - thanks: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165650 What about a folding "Musician's Chair" from Adjustrite while we have travelling on the mind: https://www.amazon.com/ADJUSTRITE-Musicians-Chair-Vivo-USA/dp/B0016OIIX0 BluesKing777. jedzep
I guess...if I was putting my valuable fragile guitar on a plane or popping it in and out of a car on weekends and then depending on it being in reliably fine shape for a regular good paying gig I would buck it up with a 'mother-in-law' proof case. I wasn't happy knowing my old L00 was bouncing around on the 15 mile trip to my repair shop, which is the only reason it travels, so I tracked down the 'functional' option. I'm saving the big bucks for my dental work and psychiatric care. When I move any of my guitars, I treat them like Tiffany glass. Nothin' ever bumps nothin'...but bad things can happen. The question is, now that I finally have good fitting cases for my best guitars, what should I do with these beater cases?
BluesKing777
The question is, now that I finally have good fitting cases for my best guitars, what should I do with these beaters? Set up the camera by the window and set the old cases out front! Worth it in chuckles! I put a broken plastic Martin thermo case and another out near the road and one guy saw it out of the corner of his eye as he had gone past and hit FULL LOCK, thinking there was a Martin maybe. Rattled both cases, which nearly fell apart, left them then drove off. I also left an old push bike out once, thinking some kid might want it, but some old guy came along, took out some tools from his car and took one bike wheel.... BluesKing777. Stefano Sunburst
In my quest for an L00 a few years ago I scored a Legend complete with COA from Ren and a "redline" case. The guitar is an all time classic. Fantastic finish,, tone, fire stripe pickguard and deep V neck. Just enough patina to feel llike an authentic vintage guitar. The redline case unfortunately weighs a ton. Again, I was lucky enough to score a Gibson Blues King gig bag. off Craig's List. Nice and light (I have back problems) elegant yellow and black fabric, with Gibson logo. Fits the L00 Legend perfect. I keep it in the redline case at home, but it's just too heavy for local use. The old original redline cases were made of a different material. The shells were thinner and stiffer...much lighter. I think they called the shells Katlalox or something. My friend has a couple from the 40s and they're quite different. Just a warning about some delux cases: they can be way too heavy to lug around on gigs, especially if you have back issues. Swang on, 🎸
