I'm a Gibson guy, (mostly play Pauls/SGs etc) but I also love my fenders..

yer openin a can of works here ! :) there's no right or wrong answer.

it's really up to each player, what works right for them.

Apples and Oranges...Love my Les Pauls (I have 3), but I also love my Stratocasters (I have 3 of those as well). Different sounds...look at many of the masters though...they go back and forth...Beck, early Clapton, EJ, Joe Walsh, Joe B., etc. (although I don't ever recall seeing Jimmy Page playing a Strat).

Entirely subjective again.

Myself, I love the sound of Fender (classic single coils) guitars more than any other guitar. I used a Strat exclusively (for electric gigs) for 20 years.

A Les Paul? It handles better.

But sometimesa Rickenbacker or Gretch is better. Go listen to old Duane Eddy stuff on a Gretch. Really beautiful sounds.

Even if yourehard core Les Paul there are different LPs. There is no such thing as "the" LP.

When I was younger I loved Fender guitars particularly strats and then I bought a Fender Jaguar. I think I probably ignored Gibson because I thought the price was way out of my range as a teenager and maybe had the opinion at the time that they were 'old man guitars'

now in my 30s I feel completely different and it's all about Gibson for me. There is always of course room for a strat and a telecaster in my collection.

Yes there is - a NON WEIGHT RELIEVED LES PAUL. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH just kidding

Great articles - I like both brands for different reasons. Strat's more intuitive physically

Page played Telecasters early on then used a Strat for the entire presence album and used a Strat for In The Evening on the Knebworth tour. But when i think of Page I see LPs.

I have seen Page with a Strat.

Scroll down a bit and there is a pic.

I have owned both as many here have. Nothing wrong with a Strat.

I personally enjoy a set neck of any profile. However, I had a buddy with an American Strat that I ENVIED for the longest time. I still love that fine playing piece of wood. Even if fender sunbursts look corny.

I'll say this for Strats: you can't break a Strat. They're like baseball bats.

As I said in the Articles.

Strats are blue collar tools.

Opinions. Of course it is a Gibson forum and we all love our Gibbys, but how many great songs were recorded with a Strat or Tele or something else. I have a Strat, Tele. D-28, SG, and a Jazz Bass. Owned a few LP's but my BB King is so killer I don't know if I will ever get another LP.

OMG..., apple and oranges, Tesla vs Hell Cat, Blond vs Brunettes, Waxed vs Bushy, Mac vs PC, Big feet vs Small feet, Hamburgers vs Hotdogs, its one of those beating a dead horse, middle school comment threads again??? Jeez... does a good mechanic use a wrench to screw in a screw or use a screwdriver? Use the proper tool for what the job needs. If the song calls for strat sound use a strat. If calls for a les paul use a les paul. Jeez
