Dries Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Newbie to this forum, hope I'm posting in the correct group? My '96 Gibson R8 with factory bigsby. I really love this Gibson.... I have not much info about this guitar so any info is more then welcome!
Johnny 6 String Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Welcome, if you're more specific about what you'd like to know I'm sure some of the forum members would be happy to help. That's an absolute beauty you have there.
Pesh Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I can't help you find out what this is, I'm just here as I appreciate a good R8, and that is a great R8! Very nice!
jmcecil Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Really nice. I'm not a historian on these things, so no help on that front. But, I do love a good wood grain.
Hall Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Nice guitar, Dries. I have an R8 myself which I really like. Enjoy it!
capmaster Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Sorry, no further info here, just want to say she's a beautiful R8 you have there!
Guest Farnsbarns Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Nice R8! We need Pippy in this thread!
pippy Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Did I hear my name being mentioned? Stunning R8......but you already know that! I don't know what else would you like to know but here's a link to a thread which covers the years '93 - '07 (the R8 came out in '94); http://www.mylespaul...ead.php?t=86299 From the link; It's hard to tell from the snaps - and we don't have a serial number to help us - but if yours has rounded 'points' to the traps then it might be from this period as (from the link) the sharp-point traps were introduced in late 2002. It also has the amber Vol/Tone knobs which (again, from the link) were a feature of the earlier guitars (gold knobs appeared in 2003). Pip. EDIT : Sorry! I had a brainfart and didn't see that you already mentioned it as being from '96! The stuff in the link should tell you all you need. It'll mainly be to the '94 spec unless superceded by later details and the 'Historic Collection' transfer had gone by late '94.
