MorrisrownSal Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 This is a short song... and the guitar is simple, except for the transition from G to Dadd9... And my finger still hurts. Anyways I would like to throw it in a set somewhere... my generation would recognize it for sure. I wish I could add a harmonica track, but I dont know how to do "minor". Hope you like it! https://soundcloud.c...chatham/breathe ========================================================================================= (added this second song... I "stole" it from EM7, and you should go listen to his version - of course it is better than mine. But I love the song - one of favorites of Neil's - and I wanted to do it nonetheless. I did add a harmonica in this one. Its a solo in the middle, and after experimenting with different keys, I settled on D for the Harp. And yes. that's my mug below. Enjoy staring at it for four minutes! Go!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Tkvfj03sV0
62burst Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 I wish I could add a harmonica track, but I dont know how to do "minor". It's easy: you suck. ; ). Kidding, of course. Love acoustic, stripped-down versions of vaunted heavyweights such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Esp. bluegrassing them up. Thanks for the tune, and thanks for not reaching for the capo; it made it possible to try a few harmonica keys on your SoundCloud version; Harps in key of C and G hit some of it, but it would probably take a chromatic harmonica, or a diatonic for that particular key (Emaj was a no-go). Got a concertina hanging on the wall? Thx.

Got a concertina hanging on the wall? Thx. I suck too! Lol! I couldn't get anything going on my harps either. I could find most of the notes on my A harp but not quite enough to play along confidently. Part of the problem is I only have 4 harps A, Bb, C, and G. Another part of the problem is I suck and then blow but obviously not in the right order! I would like to try a cross harp eventually but that might just screw up what little I do know on the straight harp.
QuestionMark Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Enjoyed your rendition. Guitar playing/picking really stood out as excellent and your vocals were equally on par as always. Sounds like a crowd pleasing keeper in your repertoire. QM aka Jazzman Jeff
kelly campbell Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Very Nicely done Sal..Love Floyd. I enjoyed them both
MissouriPicker Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Two good renditions, Sal. I like Albuquerque the best. I like a lot of Neil's stuff and I think you've got the feel of his music. You made it your own. Sounded like a "Sal" song.
blindboygrunt Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Two songs in the one day ! Both great. I'm partial to Neil Young so it's my favourite. But the floyd one is a great idea , works real well . Don't often hear a guy in the corner with an acoustic playing pink floyd songs , so it's bring a smile to a few faces I would think
Murph Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Wow. You just keep getting better. When's the Midwest Tour?
MorrisrownSal Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 What's alberquerque being played on sal ? Grunt... it sounds al J45, but its an Eastman E20SS I picked up a while back. Its a great guitar, and I have it set up real swell.

I'm listening at work , will put earphones on When I get home and give the post the respect its due , but I couldn't wait and just litwn d on phone speaker , still was able to tell , or guess , that it didn't sound like a Gibson and didn't sound like a Martin , forgot about the Eastman and thought you had bought another guitar
Buc McMaster Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Don't hear many Floyd acoustic covers........a pleasant surprise, Sal. Have some quite strange memories of the time when this was a new release, '73 was it?
blindboygrunt Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 73 indeed clever clogs Am looking forward to sal doing the next song after that which if I'm right is the one with the train Or who wants a go at great gig in the sky ? 😄
flatbaroque Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Loved the Albuquerque. Can now add Sal to the list of Em7, Neil Young and Bugs Bunny who have made Albuquerque famous. Breath was a good take too. I can see you covering the full back catalogue of Pink Floyd.Starting with "Careful with that axe Eugene"
kwalker201 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Both are excellent Sal. You just keep posting great stuff
gfa Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 ... Love acoustic, stripped-down versions of vaunted heavyweights such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. /size] Me too. Floyd, Led Zep, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Bowie, etc. When the song has good bones, it can so sweet done acoustically. Nie job, Sal!
AnneS Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Yeah- late to the show, Sal, but these are fun. Always interested in the tunes you select; way to keep it interesting. ;)
Lars68 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Two great versions, but I'm a huge NY fan so that one was my favorite! Lars
