jannusguy2 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I can't for the life of me remember what band/record this poster came from. Any idea?
Johnny 6 String Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I can't for the life of me remember what band/record this poster came from. Any idea? Some pot smokin' acid taking hippie band from the 60's LOL no idea sorry
jdgm Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Ha! Look at the expression on the face of the guy top left in the group! Think the key will be in the extra people in profile, bottom left...who is the lady? Could that possibly be Roy Orbison? Glen Campbell? Doubt it but.....:)
SteveFord Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 You mean the guy about to projectile vomit the Peyote button/Doritos combination? I knew washing it down with a six pack was a bad idea...
darling67 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Wonder if it was a poster from some "festival"-type release...? These people depicted look like several bands... the guy in profile, in the middle-left, looks like Van Morrison. First time I've ever seen this image/poster. Time to investigate.....
darling67 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 That image defied my best possible internet search! I'll be interested to know if and when someone ID's it!
sparquelito Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Thanks, JannusGuy2 I just lost an hour of my life searching all across the internet for that LP poster, using every possible combination of the words, "psychedelic", "poster", "unflattering", "1960's", "album insert", etc etc. I'm now legally-blind, I'm hearing sitars droning in my ears, and I still can't find the answer.

I see Roy Orbison
sparquelito Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I see Roy Orbison Yeah, I thought that too, but Roy didn't have a cleft in his chin, and he never wore rounded sunglasses like those. Most perplexing!!
Rabs Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I think its The Beatles.... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/The-Beatles-Psychedelic-Poster-Pin-Up-Collage-Campus-Book-Club-1960s-1970s-/301898251161?hash=item464a89bb99:g:cbcAAOSwyjBW540A

Nobody in that poster even remotely resembles one of the Beatles except maybe the guitar player (George??), and the resemblance is dodgy at best. I'm gonna check no in that block.

The one in the Roy glasses is Ringo, George is next to him then its Paul on the piano and John with the guitar. Also take a look at the character to the left of John (if it is) you will see that looks like the Hippy John stage with the long straight hair and small round glasses. (and look how high up hes playing the guitar :))
OldCowboy Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Like stretching out on your back in a field and watching the pretty hot air balloons suspended in the sky, man. Cool - the weeds are tall enough that we can hide if the POlice come. Hey - are you the chick that was here before?
quapman Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 but I must confess that I am skeptical that it is. Nobody in that poster even remotely resembles one of the Beatles.... Ya I gotta agree with Sparky. I'm fairly sure I've seen damn near every Beatles poster there ever was in my years on this planet. Especially from the psychedelic era. They were everywhere back then. This looks nothing like them at all. The artwork is to good to have been done under psychedelic influence. If they are the Beatles it's the worst rendition I've ever seen.
jannusguy2 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 I got nothing. Looks like the guy upstage center is rubbing one out on the guy downstage center. Is it just me?
sparquelito Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I must say, Karloff may have nailed it with Quicksilver Messenger Service. The resemblance to band members is quite remarkable, particularly that of David Frieberg, the cat with the sunglasses and the cleft chin. [thumbup]
Rabs Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 No no.. its obvious to me now... Its the Beatles... Obviously none of the rest of you are on hard enough drugs to see it
glp2012 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 http://www.ebay.ca/itm/The-Beatles-Psychedelic-Poster-Pin-Up-Collage-Campus-Book-Club-1960s-1970s-/301898251161?hash=item464a89bb99:g:cbcAAOSwyjBW540A I was looking for some clues at the link above in some of the blown up pictures. In picture number seven, I believe that woman is dropping a sausage from out of her skirt. That being said, I'd guess it was some rendition of The Beatles.
darling67 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I am a Beatles freak... I'd even go as far as to say, an "authority" on the band and all the memorabilia swirling around them… And I can say, that poster is NOT The Beatles. At least, this poster is nothing that was ever released with, or officially licensed by, The Beatles. If it is, then it's some third-party concoction. Anyway, I see the "Roy Orbison" everyone else does... and, as I said, the small profile looks like Van Morrison… and the guy next to "Roy Orbison" looks like late-60's Brian Wilson. Hahaha! What the hell IS this poster???

Tman Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Reminds me of some of the Grateful Dead posters by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley. Maybe the smoke coming off the guys head or the melting hybrid Strat/Tele holds the key?
