In your opinion, which guitarist deserves to get the next signature Gibson Custom guitar?

Just saw the upcoming '59 Les Paul from Mike McCready on the Gibson Custom Facebook page. Very cool guitar, and I like Mike's playing. So, I'm happy he's getting a signature '59 Reissue LP.

Who deserves to go next according to you? Which guitar should be made by the Custom Shop?

I would really like to see Gibson use korina wood again, so they could do the original '59 Flying V that Joe Bonamassa bought from Norman's Rare Guitars. Did they do Peter Green's Les Paul already? Of course, I mean to True Historic spec and with all the correct aging. Just any iconic guitar used by an iconic guitar player would make me happy.

You mean Gibson did not pump out 5 sig models this week alone?

Here is a quick question to all on the forum and I am not trying to be a wise a$$. Ever time I see a 57 - 60 LP it is always owed by some rock star. Did any of us regular folk get to buy them?

Oh, yes...Gibson pumps them out left and right. Totally agree! And usually, they're Les Pauls. But what guitar would you like to see get made next?

The question you ask, is a valid one. I guess it has to do with us being less fortunate to have the kind of dough to spend on them. When they first came out, they weren't selling that well. Later on, some famous players caught on the les Pauls of the late 50s. Should you have been lucky enough to have bought the Les Paul in '59, then you make a good profit if you sell it today.

I own a BB King and it is the she-I-it.

Has there been a Jeff Beck Ox Blood LP done?

Ah yes, that was you! How is the BB King? I was tempted to buy that one, but it is pretty expensive right now.

Oh yeah, played one for a long time at a Philly Phall of some long ago year, late 90s I guess. It was dreamy. Probably 4 thousand dollars or so.

There's this 55 year old kid down in Tampa that's is tearing it up. If he could clean up is open chords a little more. And learn what a metronome is used for he could be deserving.

KENNY BURRELL.

Mr Burrell does have a signature Heritage guitar but has made numerous albums with cover pics showing him playing a Gibson.

Gibson owes Kenny IMO....

However if we are talking only of LPs, then Clapton is one obvious choice. Don't think there has been an Eric signature LP has there?

Agreed.

They should do a gibson forum series and release a new one every day for each one of us to our own spec.

Seeing as I have an lp I like I'll take an SG with p90s, ebony board, fretless wonder frets in natural walnut please!

How about a Robert Fripp LP Custom or Joe Pass ES 175 (perhaps based on the thinner model he used in his last few years?).
