PelhamBlueFire Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Just saw the upcoming '59 Les Paul from Mike McCready on the Gibson Custom Facebook page. Very cool guitar, and I like Mike's playing. So, I'm happy he's getting a signature '59 Reissue LP. Who deserves to go next according to you? Which guitar should be made by the Custom Shop? I would really like to see Gibson use korina wood again, so they could do the original '59 Flying V that Joe Bonamassa bought from Norman's Rare Guitars. Did they do Peter Green's Les Paul already? Of course, I mean to True Historic spec and with all the correct aging. Just any iconic guitar used by an iconic guitar player would make me happy.
PelhamBlueFire Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 You mean Gibson did not pump out 5 sig models this week alone? Here is a quick question to all on the forum and I am not trying to be a wise a$$. Ever time I see a 57 - 60 LP it is always owed by some rock star. Did any of us regular folk get to buy them? Oh, yes...Gibson pumps them out left and right. Totally agree! And usually, they're Les Pauls. But what guitar would you like to see get made next? The question you ask, is a valid one. I guess it has to do with us being less fortunate to have the kind of dough to spend on them. When they first came out, they weren't selling that well. Later on, some famous players caught on the les Pauls of the late 50s. Should you have been lucky enough to have bought the Les Paul in '59, then you make a good profit if you sell it today.
Dub-T-123 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Has there been a Jeff Beck Ox Blood LP done? Yep from what I remember it was dreamy but PREMIUM priced :P
PelhamBlueFire Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 I own a BB King and it is the she-I-it. Has there been a Jeff Beck Ox Blood LP done? Ah yes, that was you! How is the BB King? I was tempted to buy that one, but it is pretty expensive right now.
'Scales Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Billy Gibbons Melody Maker with Duncan stacked HB and the pinstripes. Oh yeah!
rct Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I own a BB King and it is the she-I-it. Has there been a Jeff Beck Ox Blood LP done? Oh yeah, played one for a long time at a Philly Phall of some long ago year, late 90s I guess. It was dreamy. Probably 4 thousand dollars or so. rct
Rabs Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I own a BB King and it is the she-I-it. Has there been a Jeff Beck Ox Blood LP done? Yeah.. I wouldn't say no http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-Custom/Jeff-Beck-1954-Les-Paul-Oxblood.aspx
feldkeen4 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 There's this 55 year old kid down in Tampa that's is tearing it up. If he could clean up is open chords a little more. And learn what a metronome is used for he could be deserving.
jdgm Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 KENNY BURRELL. Mr Burrell does have a signature Heritage guitar but has made numerous albums with cover pics showing him playing a Gibson. Gibson owes Kenny IMO.... However if we are talking only of LPs, then Clapton is one obvious choice. Don't think there has been an Eric signature LP has there?
RowdyMoon Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 How about the Carlos Santana woodstock SG .....would be cool......I'd buy one! I know, I know....it's an SG special....but I want one like it without paying the 67 SG VOS pricing.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqZceAQSJvc

jdgm Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Ok 100 ltd Ed of that one.... Going to need more $$$$$ (yes 5 dollar signs) than I got! Al DiMeola used to play a LP.....J McLaughlin had a black one..... Santana Woodstock SG - yesss! [thumbup]
capmaster Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 How about this guitar. This one would be my suggestion, too!
quapman Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Me Agreed. They should do a gibson forum series and release a new one every day for each one of us to our own spec. Seeing as I have an lp I like I'll take an SG with p90s, ebony board, fretless wonder frets in natural walnut please!
jaxson50 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 1470965205[/url]' post='1790817'] rct I love the fishnet thing, I think the guitar should somehow incorporate that into the design!
LarryUK Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Snowy White I agree with this one. He's played that for decades and Tom Murphy would have his work cut out ageing it. I didn't know he'd sold it! He's got a new one. http://www.truthinshredding.com/2015/05/snowy-white-new-gibson-les-paul-goldtop.html
cody78 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 How about a Robert Fripp LP Custom or Joe Pass ES 175 (perhaps based on the thinner model he used in his last few years?).
Hall Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 This one would be my suggestion, too! and mine! as in Zappa from previous page reply.
