BluesKing777 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I recorded a track using the Boss gizmo - Martin D18e and Shure SM58 plugged straight in and out to record. And the brave and foolhardy has taken on the Leiber/Stoller "Ruby". Come up well, I thought. https://soundcloud.com/bk7-3/ruby777 BluesKing777.
flatbaroque Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Great job BK.The harmonies are sweet..you are a one man Jan and Dean, Everley Brothers and Cheech and Chong. Seriously they sound good..not cheesy at all.And the lead break was .
MissouriPicker Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Nicely done. Again........It's tough to beat the old "rock and roll" progression heard in countless songs of the 60's. It literally never gets old, because it can be adapted so well to so many tunes. You do a truly fine job on it and I always enjoy your vocals..
jdd707 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Made that one your own, didn't you? Good Job BK!
BluesKing777 Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks for the replies and comments! I have owned the Boss VE-8 for a week...is that all? I really like it so far, and one reason I bought it is the knobs for settings are easy to use, instead of going through software files like other gadgets (TE Play Acoustic). The recording above is direct to record and no adjustments except on the gadget itself, so in theory the sound I recorded should be the same at a gig in a PA. For gigs, I would feel more comfortable if it had a master volume, so it needs to go to a mixer. (For home practice, I have been using the headphone out - if you had some in-ear monitors, you could use them live instead of monitors.) Cheech BluesKing777.

BluesKing777 Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 BK, if you start doing Cheech and Chong covers, will you do Basketball Jones for us? Ha! I don't think the harmony machine would ever get that deep 'basketball jones' part. Will stick to something like "Earache My Eye" \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ BluesKing777.
blindboygrunt Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Just a thought Bk I appreciate you sparing us and being delicate with the computer harmonies , but what about letting us hear what it sounds like overdone? And what do you use ? Male and female harmonies ? Just female ? Ocatave up and under ? Tell us and then let it fly .

Hmmm, do I have to wear the tutu like Cheech? It DOES have a button called 'Totally Overdo It!' With a looper and Cher voice......... Probably want fuzz guitar with that? BluesKing777.
BluesKing777 Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 Very nicely done again Blues777 Thanks KC! BluesKing777.
BluesKing777 Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 That's GREAT ! Yep, you own it now. Thanks Murph! I did some extreme ones as per BBG, but the guitar wasn't loud enough when I listened back.....even though I have sound deadening type Sennheisers, I still heard the real guitar louder than the recorded version...tricked me. Rats, it was obviously, because no one will ever hear it, the absolute best I have ever........... BluesKing777.
