I just read bad news about heavy rain and floods, fatalities and evacuations in Lousiana, and that the situation in Mississippi and Alabama is tense due to lots of rainfall, too.

I hope all of you are safe.

This is a global problem now. Here in the UK it's a regular occurrence in some areas now and some countries have landslides that take whole villages.

My sympathies and thoughts go out to all those affected.

Concern, good thoughts, and prayers to our brothers and sisters from the forum, and to all the other Sons and Daughters of the South enduring bad times as this is being written.

I hope everyone's ok out there, I visited the area in 2014 and met some nice people.

At Christmas a village down the road from me, Whalley flooded. One joker got this rather interesting photo:

I'm not sure if the land ever sold!

Really sorry to hear about the floods...water is a formidable force that is difficult to control. And yet here, in Southern California, it has been dry most of the season. We got a few days of rain during the winter months, but not nearly enough. It seems like the winter rain skipped over us and flooded Texas and other Southern States...

Really, the drought is bad here and it seem to be getting worse. Earlier and more sever fires...and it's not even fire season (usually begins around October). I'm afraid if it does rain here we will be in for a lot of flooding also.

Here is one of the more grim outlooks for the California drought...

I'm from north Alabama but most of the damage has been along the coastal region and along the Mississippi river which part of it runs north of us.Southern Alabama got 11.23 inches of rain Sat and it has been raining that way for the pass week.

Yep. Our historic town of Ellicott City was just ravaged by a flash flood two weeks ago. Two people died and a lot of property and business were destroyed.

Unfortunately, it appears that recent explosion in development around the area is probably a big contributor in this type of flood.

Edit: Oh I see the video glitch is here again [thumbdn]
