They seem to have invented a word. No such word as liveable. Credibility gone from my perspective. [flapper]

I really couldn't care which city gets the nod as I hate all cities and live in the country.

I posted because this is a good way to rev up other Aussies that live in different states. There's a lot of rivalry for instance between Melbourne and Sydney.

Best as in most expensive. Toronto and Vancouver are the most expensive places to live in Canada and they're considered 3rd and 4th

The most compelling stipulation for where I choose to live:

NO FUNNEL WEB SPIDERS.

The really dangerous funnel web spiders are found in and around metropolitan Sydney, I don't think they are found anywhere else. There have been no recorded deaths since the advent of antivenin and modern medical techniques. There are a few other of that species in other places but they don't seem to be a problem.

Valencia is way better, just sayin'...

Valencia is nice but I haven't spent enough time there to pass judgement on liveability. Have you lived in Melbourne?

Got me... No I haven't but I can't imagine a place with better weather, beaches, food, low cost of living, great public transport, no traffic, very little crime ( except for the usual croni politicians you find everywhere ), cleanliness and amazing warm people of Spain. Oh did I mention night life and midday naps?

Digger,

I admire your pride in your nation and her flagship city.

There's nothing wrong with such pride and a well deserved pat on the back for Melbourne.

In my own country, it seems to be the in-vogue thing to be embarrassed by our national pride, our patriotism, and our long history of exceptional individualism and prestige.

I reject such notions, and choose to celebrate this deep and wide nation's culture, heritage, language, history, and pride.

Similarly, every single person I have known who found themselves living and working in Australia came back raving about what a great country it is, and how much they really liked Melbourne.

So, kudos to you, Digger.

I have your back, sir.

Salute.

Thanks Sparky,

There's no doubting America's place in the world and you should be proud. We get people railing against any sign of nationalism here too, but I suggest most weren't born here.

There's the issue of our beginnings as a convict colony which also leaves a stain on our country. It wasn't a good start unfortunately.

However we are what we are and the bit of pride we lack in our culture I try to make up for in these places...Grin~
