Lyrics hit the spot. Can Lemmings be stopped from walking into the sea? Will America wake up?

America? I thought he was singing about Metallica

( [laugh] - kidding James, though it did make me grin)

As someone who has been known to lob dirt bombs at Metallica, I like this song a lot. Sonically, it's the best they have sounded. Someone must have banned Lars from touching the console during mixing and mastering.

I'll be adding this jam to my weight lifting mix.

I agree. They managed to get back to that thrashy sound that made them good in the first place. This was a really pleasant surprise for those of us that were probably expecting another buttrock jam

I think the cymbals sound a bit like samples but I could just be trippin out. It sounds great on my system though

Same bland, generic crap they've peddled for decades now. Hard to imagine these guys once released "Puppets" and "Justice".

If this song was released by any other band, no one would give a rat's behind.

"Context"...it is also not the 1980's

Name any famous band that would make it out of obscurity if their last record was released with a different name?. I will answer that for you, the answer is none.

Death Magnetic and Beyond Magnetic are great records, they sound like sh!t but the music is great.

I think the track is good but not great,

The other track they had released, Lords of Summer same thing, good but not great.

It sounds like Metallica to me, but I hear a weird sound too. It's something very trebley - almost like an added shaker or extra pick noise - placed very purposefully on the down beats.

Riffster: My opinion is they were great in their prime, and have been boring for ages now. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

If you like their later stuff, great. I don't. I know it's not the 80s anymore. It's just... I just think they write bad songs these days.

How about a live version then? :) I may not like their newer stuff, but they are still a great live band...

Always thought they would be a lot better with a singer.

I just cant think what you mean by that :P

No mate, his singing's ok, he just needs the band to jazz it up a touch and get funky...

This guy's stuff is brilliant I reckon by the way. Yes - that is the original vocal track! [thumbup]

It's how they EQ the drums. That kick is all mallet noise with almost no resonator head and Lars leaves his hi-hats loose to flap in the breeze.

I heard it for the first time today. I like it! It sounds like it could have been on Ride The Lightning way back when. They did the right thing by ditching the pop metal garbage and going back to their roots on the last couple albums.
