A Simple Song of Addiction

One of my favorite tunes by Warren. Nice version, Buc! I have another version with Adam from Counting Crows singing it that I have modeled my send up after. If I drink enough wine tonight, I may post it.

Nice. But definitely not the voice of someone strung out on H. Thanks for the reminder of a great song. And, yes, gone before his time (not due to the aforementioned addiction).

Now- I'm pretty sure Buc no longer imbibes, but if we find out if it's the bottle of red, or the bottle of white, maybe we can get JannusRob to dust off a version of something for us. It's been ages since the last time he did so; fleeting, but fun while it lasted.

'Bird's always enjoyable to take in, too.

We all did this a whiles ago as one of those songs of the week

By the time I'd learnt it and played it I was feeling a little depressed 😄

Nice job buc .

Definitely want to hear jannus guy .

He got rid of that table and didn't give me his Martin in spite of it being my birthday guitar , but I still like him

Have a glass or three jannus

That's a perfect version of Carmelita, Buc. Your playing is clean and effective. Your singing is assured and very much like Warren's for the most part. The guitar sounds punchy and full. If I could sing and play like that, I'd be figuring out how to write my own songs in that Zevon-esque vain of sardonic yet sympathetic. Congrats on a job expertly done.

One of my favorite writers.

Zevon had a touch with words and you did it well.

That guitar sounds better every time I hear it.

Love your vocals, man. Your voice fits perfectly with what you're doing. Part of it is picking the right material and part is knowing how to use your voice. Sweet song done so sweetly. You fit well into the eras you choose songs from.....and I think that guitar is starting to sound a bit shabby and you might need to sell it to me......lol.....Awesome-sounding bird. A true representative of what a Hummingbird is intended to be. [thumbup] [thumbup]

Exactly the same thing happened to me when we did the thread ............ learned it and never sing it ..... too down. In fact that seems to be a pattern with me and sad songs. Can't sing or even stand to hear such song as Prine's' "Hello IN There" or "Sam Stone". Fun to learn and sing but they never make my play (out) list. In fact I usually don't ever sing them once I learn them and get depressed.

Having said that, I hope some of you will post your versions ... 'cause it's a cool song written by a way cool singer/song writer long gone.

Good job here, Buc!

Hey, Buc! Just a thought....I'd love to hear you and that guitar doing "Sunday Morning Comin' Down." I think you'd knock it out of the park.

Me, too!! Whaddaya think, Buc? Bring out your cleanest dirty shirt!!

For whatever reason, I can't upload the vid to Photobucket.. [cursing]

The only person I can ever recall posting a video that was uploaded to Photobucket was, I believe, RichG. Years ago. You might have to change a file extension or some such. Don't do YouTube?
