Gibson Artist
Picked this up today, its a 2010 Gibson Les Paul Standard. The dealer didnt know much about the pickups, but he believes they are Burstbucker pros? Im stoked, this is the nicest les paul i have ever owned!! just curious if anyone knows any more info about it? When i first saw it i have to admit i thought it was a classic, but the dealer insisted it was a Standard. Ill post a few pics to give you a better idea of it. UPDATE!! I found out what the pickups/specs are big thanks to Capmaster they are indeed Burstbucker pros, and it is weight relieved with locking tuners. http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/2008-Les-Paul-Standard/Features.aspx
capmaster
Congrats on your pretty catch! Your 2010 Standard basically complies with the 2008 model specs - see here: http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/2008-Les-Paul-Standard/Features.aspx http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/2008-Les-Paul-Standard/Specs.aspx

surfpup
Mmmmm... nice. I do love a gold top! It's gorgeous, Congrats. Not a fan of BB Pros. But if you want to see what you have, you can measure the resistance with a multi-meter and a guitar cable to match up with the Gibson pickup values. I know you say its the same as 2008... But I cant actually find a 2010 standard spec sheet... If this is the case, was I lied too when I bought my Standard.. Is there a way to tell? If this is the case, was I lied too when I bought my Standard.. Is there a way to tell? To my knowledge the LP Standard specs stayed the same from 2008 to 2011. They changed with the transition to the Modern Weight Relief starting with the 2012 Standards. There were made several limited Gibson USA models during that period though. I don't think anybody lied to you, they just didn't know better I think. The fact that the peghead back says "2010 MODEL" can be misleading as it doesn't necessarily mean a change of specs. So in some ways a 2010 is a 2008 in terms of specs? Not that any of this makes a difference, I love my guitar.. be it 2010 or 2008... But I do remember it saying it was a 2008 on the information card in the shop.... I may email Gibson and see what they say....
rct
Nice! Very nice! Shame it's prolly weight relieved, I saw on the innernetz not long ago that they aren't real Les Pauls, so, you know, good luck with that. rct

While i would prefer one that is not weight relieved is it a make or break thing for me? Absolutely not! But, it does seem to have a nice slim neck which does please me very much! All in all i love it! I just wish i knew what the pickups were? The dealer seemed to be guessing lol.

Chambered body, asymmetrical neck, BurstBucker Pro pickups, available finishes etc. - you find it all there.

Im not sure what asymmetrical neck means, but it feels on the slim side to me. Definitely happy with it, everything seems to match up to the specs of my guitar exactly. it says it is weight relieved which is fine, i like burstbuckers so this is an excellent fit for me. Thanks again cap youre the man.

Thanks again cap youre the man. You're welcome, mate! When about neck profiles, BigKahune is the man. This one was provided by him several times in the past. The modern asymmetrical Gibson necks are thinner than the one shown here bottom right and are closer to the Slim Taper pictured right above it:

Mine feels closer to a slim taper, at least at the frets near the headstock anyways. The only thing im not sure about is the locking input jack what they call it a "Neutrik Jack"? Not sure how i feel about that yet. But its a minor complaint i suppose, the guitar is beautiful and sounds very very good and is incredibly light. Rabs
Yes its a slim asymmetrical neck meaning its fatter on the low E side and thinner on the high E.. Meant to be more ergonomical to fit the shape of the hand... But yes to me it feels very similar to my Classic with a slim 60s neck... I also have that neutrik jack.. Was a bit stiff at first but it doesn't bother me...

Ive been trying to look in to this.. (not really much info about it around) It seems that 2010 Les Paul Standards are often referred to as a 2010 2008 spec Les Paul Standard If you try to look up specs for 2010 all you see is 2008 specs (which they are)... All very confusing... Mind you in that way I am kind of right when I have always referred to my Standard as a 2008 Les Paul made in 2010.... Its sort of right but not...
