Big Bill Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 So thats what it would look like without the cut-a-way...
btoth76 Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Hehe. The neck is from a Norlin-era Les Paul, for sure. Bence.
btoth76 Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Danny Gatton's Custom is funny enough too. With strong Les Paul influences... Bence.
kidblast Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 yep funny in a totally f' ed - up kinda way! :)
Johnny 6 String Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Bence. Wonder how heavy that one is?? Johnny
jdgm Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Perhaps they should make a limited run like that.... Bence is this real or is it photoshopped?
Jon S. Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 It's strange to see a non-cutaway LP, but I dig it!
G Mac Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 That's pretty neat! Is it real? Where can they be found?
merciful-evans Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Bence. Well, I like it. Its an improvement over the single cut. In fact, as far as aesthetics are concerned, if a double cut was unavailable, I would much rather have that zero cut guitar than the regular single cut. I feel the same way about dot fret markers. If I cant have block inserts, I would rather have none at all. Dont like dots. Dont like single cuts.

Dub-T-123 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 It looks like the amp they're sitting on is a blackface on one side and silverface on the other. All kinds of mischief and mystery
LPguitarman Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Bence. The only thing good about that picture is the St. Louis Gateway Arch and Courthouse in the background. The guitar just doesn't look right, and playing past the 12th fret would be very difficult.
pippy Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 ...playing past the 12th fret would be very difficult... Playing past the 12th fret is vastly overrated... Pip.
jdgm Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 It looks like the amp they're sitting on is a blackface on one side and silverface on the other. All kinds of mischief and mystery Dammit Holmes you're right!!!! Weird..... Playing past the 12th fret is vastly overrated... Pip. Tsk! There is something a little strange going on here and I think we should be told.....
pippy Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 ...Tsk!... OK; I'll settle for the15th fret. And on the guit pictured (which I rather like, TBH!) the neck is fully clear to the 16th which means even the next few are within reach to boot. Pffttt. Only babies and bats can discern anything on the top 'E' beyond the 18th fret. To a human ear it's all just 'tweedle-twiddle-twee-dee-dee' by that region. Who really needs that nonsense? ;) Pip.
jdgm Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Yes I like it too but this is very irregular! As for the top frets I have to blushingly confess I once recorded a solo which climaxed on high D, 22nd fret on my strat. Was well chuffed as it all sounded good stonking...at the time...
pippy Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 ...I once recorded a solo which climaxed on high D, 22nd fret on my strat... 22 frets? No. Sorry. That's not a Strat. Evry fule kno Strats only have 21 frets. All kidding aside... Probably one of the reasons I don't hanker after a LP double-cut / SG is that in my dotage I discovered that any ventures into the 'treetops' (as my father called the upper-reaches of a fingerboard) were best visited only rarely if the notes were to achieve proper dramatic effect. The Right Royal PITA this entails when playing a regular Les Paul is clearly a solemn reminder to we devout 'Paulistes' that we are not meant to be there in the first place. Pip.
G Mac Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Do what you can with what you've got, I say! If I need higher notes, I've got other guitars. I think this thing is very cool! Mr. Cisneros is a lucky guy! Thanks, btoth76!
jdgm Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Sorry should have pointed out it is an '83 MIJ Fender System III Stratocaster which has 22 frets and has been modded (now has 3 h/bs) so doesn't sound Stratty anyway. The more I practice, the better I get above the 12th fret; 15th, 17th - I get up there now. Also I think that a LP generally has lots of room above the 12th - this is all very subjective but more comfortable than a Fender in some ways. This didn't used to apply to LP Studios but I haven't played one of those since the 90s!
pippy Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 But the 21 frets do ya no good if'n ye canny reach em, Cap'n... ....an' thae DiLithium Crrrystalllls arrrr overrrrheatting!!!!! Pip.
pippy Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Sorry should have pointed out it is an '83 MIJ Fender System III Stratocaster which has 22 frets......... I wasn't being entirely serious, jdgm. There are loads of Strats which sport 22 frets these days. Jeff Beck has a lot to answer for..... The more I practice, the better I get above the 12th fret; 15th, 17th - I get up there now... Conversely the more I practise the better I get below the 15th fret! In my youth I tweedled for hours - just like everybody else did - but I've decided I prefer the tones which can be wrung from further down the order. I do still go up there, of course, as and when neccessary. Also I think that a LP generally has lots of room above the 12th... I agree. Doing a Paul Kossofesque 'The Hunter' is one of my staple favourites to blast away the cobwebs! Pip.
