Guitar God Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 As a lot of you may remember me posting pictures of him when I got him and I think I did one or two updates on him on here. Since a few of you guys have asked to keep updates and pictures going as he gets older, I'd thought I'd do that. He is doing absolutely wonderful. He is a big baby and LOVES people. Always happy. Super comical, too. He still has that typical puppy behavior, but is very mature for his age. He is 5 months old now. He is gong to be bigger than my brown and white female Newfoundland, Daisy. Took him and her to the vet to get weighed before going to PetSmart today and he is 5 months old and weighs 67.8 pounds and Daisy is 1 year and 7 months old and weighs 109.7 pounds. Anyway. Here is a picture of Duke taken today when he decided to jump on the bench outside of PetSmart, haha. He's happy as always.
Retired Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Duke is very cute! I'm not familiar with the Newfoundland breed but Dobermans are pretty much done growing taller at a year old, they may gain another 1/2" but they continue to gain weight and fill out up to 2 years of age. Even muscle and maturity up to 3. But a dog (male) should be a lot bigger then the ***** (female).
kelly campbell Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Nice Dog. Hope everything stays on course and he lives a long life.
Versatile Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Soon be time to commence training.... Towing rescue dinghys.... V
quapman Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Ya he's awesome! I really did consider the newfies when we got a dog. I like big dogs. I'm not really into puntables. But we just ended up rescuing our guy from dog jail. He was a puppy so not much of a rescue but he's a mutt. I like mutts. I gotta stick with my mutts. But that's one cute feller up there.
LPguitarman Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Beautiful dog. Is his hair hard to take care of? Matting???
Guitar God Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Beautiful dog. Is his hair hard to take care of? Matting??? Thanks! They should be groomed regularly. Not as bad as people think.

They're great dogs. Doberman's are great dogs. Same with Newfoundlands. As far as Newfoundland's go, you're supposed to wait to get the males fixed at 2 years old. They really don't fully quit growing until they're two. The breeders my first Newfoundland - who was a male - came from said that and the breeders Duke and my brown and white female Newfoundland, Daisy, said that, too. Think the females may be a different story. My female Newfoundland is 1 year and 7 months old and she is fixed. Got her fixed when she was about a year old. Here's my brown and white female Newfoundland, Daisy. Her and Duke have the same mom, but different dads. Their mom looks just like Daisy. Duke's dad is a beige Newfoundland and Daisy's dad is a brown Newfoundland. Here is my first Newfoundland. His name was Zeus. He passed away in January of last year at a few months shy of turning 13 years old. Got him in 2002 when I was 10 years old.

I'm just a dog lover in general. Big and small, haha. That's cool. What is he mixed with?
Guest Farnsbarns Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Gorgeous dog. My in-laws have a newfie called Buzby. He's really getting on now. Clambers to his feet, ambles somewhere and clambers back down again. Lovely dog though. Must be 70KGs.
american cheez Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 i don't know how anyone in the world could not love one with such a face! i can't think of too many things cooler than a happy dog
Retired Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Guitar God, awhile back you were asking me to put a photo up on Sundance. He's 3 now and will turn 4 in November. This photo was last winter. He's from a show home and came with his ears cropped and tail docked and due clawed. We were supposed to have gotten his litter brother but he was injured right before he was to be flown to us. We were going to Name him Big Lou after an gangster because his registered kennel name was "American Ganster." So Pamala sent us her 1st pick that she was going to show and breed, "American Pride." He's 28 1/2" at the shoulder so I don't know how much bigger Big Lou would have been bit since my nick name from birth is Butch my wife insisted on calling this one Sundance. "Buch and Sundance." Every where we go, people remember us. Lol

Though briefly, every one I have been around have been big babies.
