fsharp
And what makes this any different than a plain vanilla standard J-45? Older style headstock logo and tuners for $700?
Buc McMaster
Well......let's see............ The "rare" Sunset Burst finish......whatever that is. The hide glue neck joint......I think the standard is done with Titebond. The standard sports those horrid, heavy weight Grover Rotomatic machine heads.......the 3-on-a-plate vintage set is a nice touch. At least this incarnation is of traditional J-45 woods. Red 333
Gibson neck joints are always hide glue, I believe. Whether the bracing is either hide glue or titebond is what usually factors in to an upcharge. Red

tpbiii
Wow another name we can't use to describe an old J-45. The look pretty close on this one. This one is 52. Let's pick, -Tom
BluesKing777
i was born in the same decade as this instrument they are honoring, so now i am not only dated faded and jaded, but antiquated...what a term And I am antiquitous too! Hurrumph! I was expecting it to be torrefied and aged, but specs say it is like my J45 Standard with different tuners. The L-00 Ancient must be up next. BluesKing777. MissouriPicker
Got to admit it. Guitar manufacturers (in this case, Gibson) know us very well. The "right" words start a fire that can't be put-out until the money has been spent. "Antiquity" sounds kind of new to me as far as guitar names no. "Vintage" must be wearing-thin with some buyers. I don't have any desire at the moment for another J45, although who knows? I do have two AJs, although a good argument could be made that the Koa one isn't an AJ. I'm waiting for Gibson to make a J45 Ochroma Lagopus. When I get tired of playing it, I can fly it.
Pittgibson45
It might not look like it in the picture but that burst is quite different than on the standard. Then as mentioned before, the tuners and decal logo are different than the standard. The only other thing I see is a bone nut and saddle. So, the antiquity fixes everything people don't like about the standard, the tuners and the tusq.
