Jonathan thomas
Seems off. Inlays look shitty. Plus the price? If it seems to good to be true it usually is.
Jonathan thomas
And even if i didnt know "much about the guitar" i would at least know the year.
bryvincent
looks real to me. i dont see anything that suggests that its a fake and never seen a fake with an ebony fingerboard. but the price is a bit low which might suggest a real guitar but a bogus/scam listing or might be a really good deal. ilovegibsons
it might be me but the tuners look wrong
Tim Plains
Anybody can replace tuners. I'd have to go with real on that one. Looks like a a Norlin to me.
AXE®
Looks good to me... Everything seems to be in order for a Custom.  It looks like a late 70's to early 80's Norlin... Right down to the protector case. And a Grand is about right for these days ...   What would make you lads think it was fake.  It's one thing to cry wolf , but another to cry wolf without explanation. sgTime
Get the serial numbers, aside from that this thing looks about right to me

sok66
Would agree, looks like a '70s Norlin era Custom, that funky 3-piece top is the giveaway. Get the serial number and it will tell you for sure. That is most likely a refin. If it has been refinished try & get the price down a bit more. Â Would just add that if no hacks or other unnatural acts have been performed on them I love guitars like this. Some 70s Gibsons were indeed as bad as legend suggests, but most were not and virtually all can be made into fabulous player guitars. Get a pro to strip that thing and spray it in black with some aged clear and you got a knockout on yer hands!
Thundergod
Looks real... all the way down to the correct case.
Slogold
Not really interested of getting it. Let's just say this is just a sort of a practice identifying or distinguishing fake from genuine. Sort of a "Gibson Forum Review Board".
scozz
No way that LP is a fake, imo. I've never, never seen a fake LP with a ebony fingerboard. It looks like a late 70s early 80s model, and those tuners are period correct.
