What strings??

I use D'aQuisto .009's on the Epiphone, and the same brand in .010's on the Gibson, I like 'em cuz they last forever if you keep 'em clean. Gigging like you do, I'm not sure of their longevity, but I like 'em!

I use Dean Markley nickel steel strings on all of my electric guitars - Gibsons and Fenders and the oddballs. Been using them forever, it seems, at least 25 years, and they have a good combination of tone and longevity.

I use regular gauge (.010 - .046) on all of 'em.

If you use 9s on your strat, I would use the D'Addario 9.5 set on the Standard. They are not as much of a jump up to the 10s. I use them on most of my Gibsons. They seem to resist rusting much better than others and with a good wipe will last quite a while. If you are not familiar with them they are the EXL120+ They come in 9.5,11.5,16,24,34,44. The regular 10s are 10,13,17,26,36,46.

I use Gibson Vintage Reissue 9's and 10's on my reissues. D'Addario 8's and 9's on most of my other guitars, and Elixir 10's and 11's on my acoustics. A new set of strings can be ruined after one session if I don't clean them after playing. I find both the Gibsons and D'Addarios can last me a fair bit of time if I keep them clean.

Hi guys!

Hi smurf77!

Perso, for my Les Paul Standard (electric) I use :

==> Dean Markley nickel steel electric 10-46 because of a good sustain & tone and a longer life. (7 €uros the set in France!)

for my acoustic guitar :

==> Elixir custom light .011/.052 (10 €uros)

see u soon,:-$

i just changed the strings that came on my studio, put on d'addario 11's like all my other guitars and now it sounds awful! really dull, ive adjusted the set up to compensate it just sounds crap, really odd, never had this before, could be me cos im a little caned and i had the original strings on for a coupla months so got quite used to the 10's again cos ive hardly touched anything else except for my purple strat (10's as well) wondered if it might be cos its the satin worn cherry one and the lack of thick finish might be messin it up, i dont know, aint got the heart to plug it in in case it really sounds crap an then ill end up changing all my settings on me pod!! maybe leave it a day or two then maybe get some brightwires instead? or d'addario 10's??? mez confuso

I've been wondering about thesew' date=' how are they? Do theyw rust quickly. Also what strings do you get with (if your luckey enough..) a Standard? [/quote']

Geerar_Axl,

They do lose their shiney appearance on the high strings but do not really rust out (I do clean the with a wipe down after each use).

Now I am only an At-Home player and play to relieve the stress from work so for an example: Let's say I average 1 hour a day of playing. the strings currently have been on for over 2 months and they stay in tune perfrectly and have good tension. Put the guitar away, pick it up the next day and the strings are still in tune.

Standards comes from the factory with Brite Wires which I thought where to bright for me. The are the same size (10s).

Hope this helps.

Related question, but not...I've used the Ernie Ball Slinky in .10 for my other fixed bridge, but for my LP (bought new in February) I plan on sticking with the Gibson Brights.

Question, I have a vintage Kramer Baretta with an original Floyd Rose. I have been told to avoid a Slinky type string. Any suggestions?
