Zentar
14 ga Strings Im thinking about using the 14 gauge (14-55)strings on a 50s hollowbody. It has just had a professional neck reset and is in good to go shape. Im looking for a warm rich jazz tone from a neck pickup only. Is there any reason I should avoid 14 guage? 13 is as heavy as I ever used and that was on modern acoustics.
L5Larry
You (and your guitar) should be fine with the 14-55 TI-GB's you linked, I use 14-67's on my archtops. Many acoustic players here on this forum seem to really like TI strings (round wounds I assume), so I would think that their flat wounds were made to the same high standards. I play LaBella strings exclusively on all my guitars, solids, semis, classicals, and archtops. I found "my sound" with the LaBella #800M Black Nylon Tape Wound strings (14-67). I would highly recommend giving these a try. http://www.stringsandbeyond.com/labeblnytawo1.html
