Gillian Welch interview

Generally, it's preferable to let a performer's music do the talking. Every now and then, however, you need to listen to their words when there's no music involved.

 

Performers rarely burst onto the scene fully-formed, and the best singer-songwriters continually move in new directions.

 

This is an interesting interview, particularly for those interested in the Americana genre:

Thanks for posting that. Somewhere along the line, I think it was Bruce Cockburn's Dart to the Heart album, I figured out that T. Bone Burnett was the producer on a lot of albums that caught my ear so I began to follow him and his projects. That's how I came upon Gillian Welch. Her conveying of a feeling for the Depression era through her music is another big reinforcement, for me, of reincarnation. She channels it like she was there. She and Mozart do this for me. Mozart pretty much came into this world fully formed musically, playing keyboard and violin AND composing at the age of 5!
