'Time and tide, are you still on my side,

How much longer, can I linger, we all subside

Summer breeze, brings me to my knees,

On this golden shore, we all must share, sets me free

Oh life, sail on by

Can a man, hope to understand,

Words remain unsaid, feelings deep inside, shifting sand

Reveries, dreams of yesterday's,

In the fadin' light, must be gettin' late, silver haze

Oh life, sail on by

(From one of my originals Time & Tide - 2015 [smile] )

I feel I've done what I came to do now, though if granted the time, I'd like to play a real show or two with the guys just to see the smile on my old mate's face (the drummer) as he's never had the pleasure of doing so. Now that can be my resolution for this year.

Getting old definitely beats the alternative.

I'm fortunate to have a wife I love, a job I love, and excellent health for my age (actually good health for someone 20 years younger than myself).

I do take care of myself, eat good food, don't abuse myself, keep a positive attitude, and look forward to whatever comes next. But I think living a life I love has as much to do with it as the care I take.

when i turned 50 i was just as pleased as i could be.

i almost didn't see 40.

i have a large crowd of dead loved ones, friends and family in my heart.

people i would love to see right now, but they're gone.

most of them never saw 40, but not one of them saw 50.

so i say be glad you survived this far.

lots of good folks don't.

I too was elated to see 50 since my father and my two older brothers have all died young. The males in my family does not see 55 and some not even 50.

Who was it who said, "Age ain't nothing but a number"? (The Hook? Maybe?)

Who was it who said, "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you was?" (Satchel Paige? Maybe?)

I am 65, but I think I look and feel like a man twice half my age.

At 65, you are but a child!

I didn't mind 50 at all, I joined the gym at 50 and benched 300 for one rep before the end of that year. By 55 I could bench 325 for several reps. I can't do that stuff anymore. Now my doctor tells me to go light and lots of reps.
