quapman
I have no idea. How long does it take to get through 5 Mel Bay books? That's how many my brother and I did before I quit until I was about 21. Then I started up again for another 15 yrs or so. Then I quit for about 20. Then I picked it up again 4/5 yrs ago(ish). Ya I should be better. Don't care. It is what it is. I have fun.
merciful-evans
46 years. It would be 54 years if my dad let have a guitar when I wanted one, but like AndyK I had to buy my own when I was old enough to work. I stopped only twice. Once for 8-9 months when in USA in 70s. Again for a few months in the 80s after braking a finger.

I still can't play a song completely through without making a mistake. Hitting a wrong string or timing or always something. Gets frustrating as the wife comes in and tells me I'm doing it wrong and then plays the song for me but then again, it's just for me and having fun as you say.
