SilverLesterStd
I have compared the Custom Classic specifications for the ebay guitar for which you posted the link with my guitar. In the column to the right, I typed a "Y" for a match in spec. & an "N" for a difference between the guitars: BODY Top Species: Carved maple Y Back Species: Mahogany Y Binding: Custom top binding N My binding is the normal narrow kind Finish: Silverburst Y NECK Species: Mahogany Y Profile: 1960s slim-tapered Y Neck Joint Location: 16 Y FINGERBOARD Species: Ebony Y Scale Length: 24-3/4" Y Number of Frets: 22 Y Nut Width: 1.695" Y Inlays: Pearloid trapezoid on neck, holly on headstock Y Fingerboard Binding: Antique N My binding is WHITE HARDWARE Plating Finish Nickel Y Tailpiece: Stopbar Y ELECTRONICS Neck Pickup: '57 Classic, N Mine has BB Pro Classics Bridge Pickup: '57 Classic Plus N Same as above Controls: 2 volume, 2 tone Y Bridge: Tune-o-matic Y + Knobs: Black speed N My axe has silver witch hats + Tuners: Grover keystone N Mine has vintage tuners 3-way switch Y As I have shown, there are several features that these guitars don't match on. There is also a LP Custom offered by Sweetwater Music that is different than any of these you have shown. Here is the link. The main thing is that Gibson is offering different versions and (or) colors of guitars to various merchants for a couple of reasons: 1) If they have a price matching policy, they can say the guitars are not identical and so don't have to match the price. 2) Some people might want a rosewood fretboard, or a "signature" headstock and not a "holly" headstock. Look around and I'm sure you'll probably find even more versions the Standard or Custom in our beautiful color of silverburst.
