djroge1
Thats not a fair comparison. We need to see it with the pick guard and the new pup covers.

rocketman
I like it off too. I think that any guitar with any flame in it should have it off....
GuitarJunkie
I'm not against pickguards. If I bought a Les Paul that already had one then that would be cool, but I'll never drill one of mine to install one.

Notes_Norton
Definitely ON. 1-Looks) the guitar looks more balanced that way, when playing it puts the visual weight on the bottom of the guitar, where it belongs 2-Function) the pickguard instead of the guitar will get scratched up and the PG can be replaced very easily Personally, I'd replace it with a Black pickguard. Look what that did for my Casino Before: After: Notes

jameswithesg
i assume were reffering to Les Paul's now i dont own one, but for me it depends on the look/color of the top a solid black, deffinately give it a creme guard a tobacco burst, id take it off a gold top, deffinately on for your particular axe, id say LEAVE IT OFF, with the beautiful top you have, i wouldnt want to hide any of it and i dont know how you play, you might not even scratch the guard when it is there you guys are making me want a lester to company my sg

AXE®
My acoustics don't even have pickguards.... Play the strings not the body... Unless of course your playing technique resembles that of a flailing epileptic. If that's the case it won't matter either way.

Look what that did for my Casino Before: [img']http://www.nortonmusic.com/GuitarCousins.JPG[/img] After: Notes With respect, apples and oranges! :D Them big ol' gals look better with the guard. They need the balance to which you refer. But IMO the beautiful lines and figuring of the LP bods is better served by remaining au natural. as in: Leave it OFF, TG! Homz
Doesn't the fact that an LP having a contoured top tend the lessen the need for a pick guard. That's your number one old lady. You don't use condom on your number one old lady, do ya?
