Manchester bombing

I know that I can't comprehend the mindset of someone who thinks it's a great thing to blow themselves up and kill a whole bunch of other people at the same time.

In this case it happened to be mostly little girls.

Many years ago 60 Minutes did an interview with a failed suicide bomber to try and understand what motivated this particular guy.

Their conclusion was that the bomber had nothing to aspire to - he was never going to go anywhere, do anything or amount to anything - and the closest he'd ever get to being "a rock star" was to become a suicide bomber.

He became a celebrity during the preparations with everybody doting on him and then he'd go bang and go to paradise as a big deal.

He was mortified and viewed himself as a failure when the bomb didn't detonate. He would have preferred to be blown to bits.

The whole thing just strikes me as crazy.

I can understand reluctance to discuss controversial social issues, especially here, where we are sharing our common interest in guitars and music. Politics and Religion are usually at the top of the list.

Personally, I don't see anything at all controversial or offensive about expressing one's disgust and anger over these horrific acts. The savagery and barbarism is like nothing we've seen in modern western culture.

I shudder when I see speech suppressed. If we cannot discuss things like this amongst ourselves (decent people, that is) we are doomed. In fact, we are supposed to discuss these things, that's how we work them out and organize ourselves against them. Political correctness is suppression of speech. Which eventually leads to suppression of thoughts and ideas. All very dangerous.

We are not talking about sexual orientation, gender identity or whether or not you think your taxes are too high. We are talking about a terrorist movement that revels in the killing of children. Anyone who is offended by opposition to that doesn't belong anywhere.

The same monster that took this young girl, attending her first ever pop concert

Nell went to the same school as Harry Styles and my daughters did.

The heartache is unimaginable.

What can I say? Again. Stop the world I want to get off.

Can I just say. I started this thread to show my dismay with the human race. I didn't want to start arguments or racist talk. Political banter or hate. I just want to us to be united in showing our unity against terrorism. To lose a child has to be one of the worst things that can happen to a person. To lose them in this way is even worse. The whole world needs to look at how us, the human race is living. It can't go on like this.

this is why liberals and socialists will cause the fall of western civilization. the idea that incompatible cultures can get along is flat out stupid. living here in canada, i see lots of fools blissfully trying to bring to ontario the same ills that plague western europe. and don't dare point to the usual suspects when things like this happen, because you'll be branded a racist or worse by someone who can't come up with a real and logical argument as to why allowing 900 syrian fighters to return to the uk is a bad idea. ask anyone who lives in germany or belgium how much they like living with islamists. i'll bet my les paul no one can point to one family who would allow their 14 yr old daughter to walk around there unescorted. sadly, speaking like this will likely draw the attention of moderators who will kill the thread and/or delete posts in the interests of "peace and inclusivity". maybe they don't realize that there is no peace, and many of us have already been excluded by liberals who would put us at risk by doing exactly what they always do. shut down any discussion that points to the obvious. islam wants to kill you, and your children. it wants to rape your wives and daughters. it's not hate speech to say this, because islam is already doing these things and has been for decades. it is stating a fact, plain and simple. and before anyone says the weak line "not all muslims are like this". i would remind them that with the number of muslims in total, even small percentages translates to millions of people who want to kill you, with almost zero consequences from the so-called less radical sects.

Oh good, you took the death of children to push your "thinking" and nothing else. I think you should be ashamed of your post and how little you demonstrate care for others. A bunch of children died and your response is nothing more than a political opinion. What a winner.

sorry for the delay, i moved out of the country this past weekend. i can now see that reading comprehension isn't your thing. there is ample evidence in the news that islam wants to kill you. the very idea that 2 cultures so diametrically opposed should live together is a fool's game. europe is all the example any intelligent, informed adult would need in order to understand that concept. they don't want to kill you because of political things that the west may or may not have done. it's not something that you or i could ever "fix" or atone for. unlike you or i, they do not judge on an individual basis. they want to kill us because we are not them. period. that's all there is to it. their religion/political ideology has this written into it's doctrine. when i mentioned liberals and socialists, it is because they are the ones pushing the agenda of accepting the enemy. make no mistake, someone who wants to kill you and rape your culture's women is indeed your enemy. what i posted is not political opinion, it is obvious and factual. i am not ashamed of my post, and did not as you say " use the death of children to push your "thinking" and nothing else". before moving here, i actually shared a house with 2 muslim men. i have worked alongside many of them. i don't know how many muslim people you know intimately, but from your post i am guessing you do not know any. where i lived there are many and i see the culture clash up close and personal. i speak from experience, as well as with the pov afforded by possessing average intelligence and a willingness to be informed. i will not offer any personal attacks on your character as you did me, because i realize your feelings come from ignorance. i will assume that you will eventually edify yourself to a point that you can also have a clear understanding of the situation we are all in. at that time you might even think back on your response to my earlier post, and wish you had posted with rational thought instead of raw emotion driven by a lack of understanding. google is your friend

As usual, a tragic event has happened, and in the spirit of catharsis I leave it open so people can vent a little. And soon, sides are chosen, and it goes negative, and then I shut it down, and people then fall into two camps....one that is mad because I shut it down, and the other mad because I didn't shut it down soon enough.

Blue moon of Kentucky, keep on shining.

Shine on the one who's gone and left me blue.

Sing it.

And here's a picture of Bettie.
