mtnfire1500
Just got a J-45 custom Bubinga with Adi top. The top is what caught my eye in the shop, the amberburst on this one is gorgeous! I really wasn't familiar with Bubinga at all before seeing and playing this guitar. To me it sounds like a mix between Mahogany and Rosewood. Deep Gibson bass, luscious mids, and ringing highs. I wasn't planning on buying a guitar, but after seeing this one I couldn't get it out of my mind. I thought about it constantly, even dreamed about it one night. So finally I called the dealer back worked out a good price, now it has a new home, and I couldn't be happier. I changed the stock plastic pins to buffalo horn. It made a huge difference. Improved the volume and sustain greatly. Sorry for the links, couldn't figure out how to post a pic. Guest
I played a couple of those over the Christmas break down in Portland. Both of them were very nice guitars. Congrats & enjoy yours! Fred

stark
Hey congrats! I bought the only one issued in Canada a few weeks ago. Did you get anything in the case with it? I was told all Custom Shop guitars are supposed to come with case candy including picks, strap, cloths, etc... mine did not. Wondering if I missed out or was misinformed... guitarstrummer
The only thing I've ever heard that they've included was the Gibson Acoustic guitar pick that they used when it passed through QC.
mtnfire1500
Thanks for posting the pics, I haven't quite figured this thing out yet. Where do I change url to img? No I didn't get anything with it either. I thought that you were suppose to get a "kit" or something too, but I guess not. The dealer didn't really know anything about it. TheLiveSoundGuy
Hey Andy, It's called hypertext programming language, or html coding. If you take the links you posted as example: http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p259/mtnfire1500/CIMG1749.jpg If you put [ img ] [ /img ] (without the spaces) at both ends, it will display the actual photo. Since you are using Photobucket, you should see this code by the picture. Photobucket codes this for you so all you need to do is copy and past the link. You can easily Google "html programming tags" for more info on how to put html codes in your web pages, texts and emails. Hope that helps. That really is one pretty guitar. The top looks like my Hummingbird, but my back and sides are nowhere near that pretty. I can imagine the sound she puts out. Be sure to name her accordingly. I've named my Hummingbird Charlotte. :)

mtnfire1500
Thanks soundguy, that sounds easy enough. Yes she sure does put out a sound. I'm mighty happy so far. Like I said though those buffalo horn pins really made a big difference.

tubetone74
Awesome guitar! I must be behind the curve. Did not know about this model. Tell me more. How long has it been out, available dealers, price range, does it come in TV version, etc. Thanks!

How long has it been out' date=' available dealers, price range, does it come in TV version, etc. Thanks![/quote'] I saw these a few months ago, right around Christmas. Not sure how many were made, but I was thinking it's a Limited Edition (at least until it perhaps becomes less limited....). So it is possible that they would only be around for a short while, and perhaps only appearing at the dealers who stepped to order them then. On the other hand, who knows? -- the model might be so popular that they keep it going for a while until we ALL have Bubinga J-45s! I think this might be a nice body-wood combination for a twelve-string. Fred
guitarstrummer
I see where they are being advertised by Gibson on-line dealers as being a "limited run of 40". Is that a Sully strap I see hanging on it?
stark
That's correct... limited run of 40. I was lucky enough to get the only one in Canada (at least that's what they told me). Not sure when they were released but I picked mine up about 2 weeks ago. Really enjoying it thus far - my first Gibson! Was about $2,250 CAD for those wondering on price range (slightly above the regular J-45 in the store I bought it in). Anyone have any recommendations on a good acoustic amp in the 50W or less range. Just want something small but with good sound. Thanks!
guitarstrummer
Does it have a pick-up or does it come naked?
TheLiveSoundGuy
Does it have a pick-up or does it come naked? It's got a pick-up. I can spy the volume knob peeking out of the sound hole.

mtnfire1500
Hey guys thanks for all the replies. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I'm actually deployed to Iraq right now. I bought the guitar while I was home on leave. I'm going through withdrawls right now!!!!! I brought a Tak with me and it's doing good, but it's just not the same. The guitar is limited to a run of 40. Not sure about the dealers. The price is in the 2,000 to 2500 range. I tried to haggle a little, and ended up with a pretty good deal I think, but they wouldn't budge too much due to it being a limited run from the custom shop. It has a L.R. Baggs pickup. Yes that is indeed a Sully Strap. It's one of his Vintage models. That's a good eye. Take care. Andy

steverok
I'm always amazed how the natural-finish and custom J-45s get proper pickguard placement, but for regular J-45s, they always seem to plop it on there in a rather unappealing way.
