Allenjason95
Just thought of two more things; Reintroduction of the LP Deluxe as a permanent member of the line-up, as it rightfully should be. SG Standard with P90's, a la 2016, in Natural Burst. I own a 78 Deluxe and I don't think there's enough of a market for mini humbuckers to justify the Deluxe being a permanent thing. I bought mine because I wanted to try something different but I just don't like the minis. They're not terrible but they don't sound as good as full size humbuckers so I don't really see the point. I love the looks and feel of my Deluxe so I'm probably just going to put P90s into it eventually. But I don't think there are many people buying new Gibsons that would be interested in a LP Deluxe. Maybe I'm wrong but there's a reason so few guys play Deluxes.
AlanH
I'd be very tempted by a chambered Studio with a flame maple top....

Also, I'm playing jazz instead of Aerosmith nowadays. I use both pick ups: Neck pick up set at 9 and the bridge pick up at 3, both tones at 5 and I get a very nice sound. When I do crank it up, it simply chimes and jangles like no other guitar I've played, and the resonance magical. I get no more hum than my Custom used to make ... which is none. There is a documentary about the Allman Brothers titled "After The Crash", and there's a lot of footage of Dickey Betts playing a Deluxe. Allen, if you don't want your Deluxe, don't rout it out for humbuckers. Send me some pics and a price.

And the minis just sound weak compared to a regular humbucker to me. But I don't think there's enough demand to justify the Deluxe being a permanent addition to the lineup. charlie brown
Mini-humbuckers have a slightly pronounced "edge" to them...some say a "thinner," more defined tone, compared to full sized humbuckers. My '76 LP Deluxe has it's (stock) mini-humbuckers, still. I did have them wax potted, a few years ago, as they had gone microphonic, after 30+ years. Now, they sound even better, than ever! I've always felt like they were somewhere between a P-90, and full sized humbucker, in tone. With a bit more clarity, like a P-90, but similar overall glassy tone, to a full sized humbucker. But, again, that's only MY opinion, or take on it. I, especially, like the mini's characteristics, in the neck position! CB

For me the sound is quite admirable; I like the cleans and crispness you get out of that sort of pickup, but as you rightfully say it s probably a small market that has the appreciation for it, when compared to more widely-used and common full humbuckers and P90's. The pickup was only created to fill a build requirement of Gibson, as far as I know, when they had bodies routed for a P90. It's not a pickup born for the sound / tone requirement, like a humbucker was.

Mine doesn't have the original minis, it has Seymour Duncan's so maybe that's the problem? It is my favorite guitar looks wise though. Mine is a wine red 78. Beautiful cool looking LP. StRanger7032
Well, it looks like they are actually making my perfect LP in 2018 (see my thread starter post). Nice work, Gibson! I'll have one!
