vagabond
PIC? Will upload when I'm not at work. Again I am reminded that I've committed the cardinal sin of not uploading guitar porn of my own. Will be remedied tonight' date=' promises. edit: actually, I just remembered that I do have a pic of it online. Not a great one, but it'll do. wrench87
i have looked on line and i have seen a couple of pictures of this guitar and they have black pick up rings, i wonder if the gold was installed at gibson or by the original owner?. this guitar was in the upper 300's so it was towards the end of the 400 run. i wonder if gibson would know if i called them?. i am leaning towards just switching out the rings it will be nice and cheap, and now that i look at it that is the area where there is just to much gold. Maybe it is that Bandit look. But, mine does have the black pickup rings. I do agree that your gold rings are a bit much. I think if you just replace those rings it'll be perfect. hbomb76
interesting how yours seems to have deeper bevels... Yeah, I never got a hold of one of those up close, but about half the ones I have seen in photos online have a little bit better beveling than your average recent reissue. Sometimes "special editions" get a little better attention in details like that, so I wouldn't be too surprised. H-Bomb PS...a guy I know who works in CAD anc CNC stuff told me half-jokingly (but it almost makes sense) that Gibson's machines must need recalibrating and that might be why the beveling on a lot of the last few years' '61 Reissues haven't been quite right...he said that or they're not sliding the bodies all the way in. Made me scratch my head a little though. :-
crgrissom
interesting how yours seems to have deeper bevels... I never really noticed it until I started reading H-bomb's stuff. Always being an SG admirer since my Iommi-wannabe days, I guess I did notice sometimes some SG's would look 'chunkier' than others. I just thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me. But, now, I'm getting pretty picky about those bevels! Chuck
80LPC
Why do men find those bevels so interesting - me included ? I think I have the answer. Look at that curvaceous waist. Look how the contours meet with the twin cutaways and the deep bevels that describe the outline of a pair of....ok, I admit I need to get out more...
