I use mediums on my Epi Texan which I downtune to Eb, but otherwise 12s all the way. I often play 5 or 6 shows a week between original gigs, covers/function gigs and session/dep stuff, and I find 13s are just a little too hard on my fingers for busy weeks. Clearly a marketing strategy - going after high rollers who feel their Martin deserves nothing but the best. As my mother use to say - "A fool and his money are soon parted."
