Today George Young died! George was 70.

Why was he significant to music ? He and Harry Vanda were the driving force of The Easybeats and were mentors to Malcolm & Angus Young, George's brothers in their career and starting up AC/DC and their marketing worldwide. So you see he was significant, not only in Oz, but to music as a whole worldwide.

 

Vanda & Young produced landmark albums such as Let There Be Rock, Powerage, If You Want Blood You've Got It, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, High Voltage/TNT, amongst others

Yes I saw this.

 

I loved "Friday On My Mind" when I was a kid - one of my first 45s. I can still remember some of the lyrics.

 

As you say, elder brother to Malcolm and Angus and a guiding force behind AC/DC in their early days.
