Ok, I had posted this on another thread but I went back, edited it, and made a new thread out of it... I didnt want to hijack your thread blue.

Has anyone seen the new (at least to me) Jackson Adrian Smith signature San Dimas Dinky guitar?

I am not fond of signatures... but Adrian is one of my favorite guitar players, for those that dont know, he is one of the (3) guitarists of Iron Maiden, and has played with lots of other folks too, including his great work with Bruce dickinson on his solo stuff.

I have to note that he plays les pauls too (his first guitar (I think) was a beautiful les paul gold top), and explorers and of course strats.

One of the best images I can recall of him was the oppening of their show at "Rock in Rio" 2001, he was back to Iron Maiden but most people wasnt sure if he was going to appear there... just look at the oppening of the show... just great!

Oh, and he is not afraid to say it up front: his first les paul is the best guitar he's ever owned, I think its the one in the video, anyone know about that pickup configuration? looks like a mini HB in the neck.

He play Ibanez too, I am a huge Maiden fan since the ealry 80's and I have always preferred Dave's style but these 2 guys combined ar just incredible.

I have never seen him play an Explorer, he does have that Ibanez Explorer look alike.

EDIT: it is an Ibanez Destroyer, he used it quite a bit in the ealy 80's

I'm a big Maiden fan, Tgod. I love all three Maiden players. I was wary of Gers when he joined but he brought a different style that just seemed to fit, especially now that the old lineup is back together.

I'd have to say that my favorite CD so far is Fear of the Dark. There is some great music on that disc.

Powerslave would run a close second for me.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well Adrian Smith was not on the first Maiden record.

It was Dennis Stratton and he used a Les Paul Custom and a Firebird. I am going by memory here.

Dave Murray used his Black Stratocaster mainly. He had humbuckers on the bridge and neck and left the single coil in the middle position.

Dave uses the neck humbucker most of the time.
