Twang Gang
I use Schaller on all my guitars. For quite a few years now they come with a couple different screw lengths. I always try to use the original screw that was on the button, but often the head is too large to fit on the strap lock. But the two different sets that come with the locks, one of them seem to always work. Don't recall having to drill any deeper to accommodate screw length. Did have to drill my L5, which did not have a strap button anywhere up by the neck. Have to admit I was pretty careful about drilling a hole in a brand new $10K guitar - but put it right where the neck heel joined the body where I knew there had to be a ton of wood and it worked out fine.
