Gianni_boy
Hey everyone, my Buddy just got a 84 Les Paul Custom and the inlays, binding and the headstock inlay are sooo stained they arent yellow they are actually orange-yellow.......my guess is the previous owner was a smoker and he definatly gigged it, so that orange-yellowing could be nicotine stains?? Anyways ........How can it be cleaned off?......that is ''if'' it can be cleaned off.......... Thanks
AXE®
Not really. Nitro is porous and the stain goes through... Like I've sad before ... Naptha aka Zippo lighter fluid will help. Virtuoso Cleaner may help also, but I've never used it on a older instrument ...
MikeRom
The binding is probably a lost cause, might not ever come clean. Lightened up maybe, restored to the original color, doubtful. I'm sure the wood needs some attention too if everything else is so dirty. Do the virtuoso thing as AXE (trademark R) suggested. It's made to take care of older insturments. rockstar232007
Why would you want to clean it? Things like that will just add character to it.
