Lamar Fandango
Hi all, These are the bridge & saddles from my 1984 ES-347. I’m wondering if anybody has any info on these saddles and bridge. They were on the guitar when I got it used in the early 1990s. I assumed they were stock, but apparently not. It doesn’t bother me that they aren’t stock, but I’m trying to find a suitable replacement.
rct
Look for Schaller and Mighty Mite. I believe Schaller was making some stuff for Mighty Mite to put their name on, that looks like a good candidate. Good luck with it. rct
Lamar Fandango
I think I found the answer...from the Gibson Forum no less. Thanks to member Andy R for researching this. Apparently these bridges are rare « Top Adjust Tune-o-Matics », designed by Rendel Wall at Gibson when Kalamazoo was the center of the universe. They were made by Gibson and used on a few guitars from 1982-1984 (my ES-347 is 1984). Andy R’s research includes links to the original patent and a conversation with the actual designer. Big time kudos, Andy R. Here is a link to the discussion. www.forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/58970-help-identifying-an-unusual-tune-o-matic-bridge/page__st__20 In other words, very cool rare thing, but I need a new bridge.
