Carbonite
What else comes inside of a brand new boxed Gibson Les Paul aside from the Les Paul itself? I mean, paperwork and everything. If anybody has just purchased a new one that you unboxed yourself, could you you show a pic of everything that came inside? I mean, even Gibson adverts. Thanks. EDIT: I am asking, because I just don't trust guitar center. Not even a little bit. Bad past experience. But its the only place I can purchase a Gibson anywhere near me. jnastynebr
I dont have a camera or my guitar with me, but my 2007 LP standard (new in box). Came with a warranty registration, a salt packet, an owners manual, a check list, a pick gaurd, and a truss rod adjustment tool. Oh, and a Gibson Les Paul guitar. My Fender USA Stratocaster (new in box) came with a strap, a guitar cable, paper work, check list, tremlo, a wipe down cloth, a half a pack of ciggarettes, TSA lock instructions, a porno video, a bumper sticker, promotional dispaly materials, a lock of JFK's pubic hair, three salt packets, a nipple ring, and the warranty registration. Fender is a little more generous with the goodies than Gibson. Would you elaborate on your bad Guitar Center experience?

Thundergod
You should get an owners manual FOR THE GIBSON ROBOT, if you dont, then they are trying to rip you off... times change, though, and they might be shiping Dark Fire manuals with all non dark fire guitars right now... and that makes you wonder... you think back in the 50s people buying banjos and mandolins got pissed because all they got was an owners manual for a crazy weird idea called "electric guitar" (whatever that was)? Tim Plains
You should get the checklist but some music stores just throw them out. That or they give you any random Gibson Les Paul case. So, you might not get the checklist.
Carbonite
ROFL Anyways, they tell me no tools come with it. (Not that expensive for that stuff, but I want one from a box and they basically wont give me a new one. Want me to buy (What I feel is used) one on the wall.) The past bad experience. OK here goes. Long story short. Wanted a new guitar. They wanted to sell me the one from the wall. I insisted that I will be buying a new "Still Boxed" guitar, no matter what they try to sell me. I realize most like to play the particular guitar they buy, but at this time this did not matter to me. 1 hour of "OH but this one plays so well, didn't you like it". Blah blah blah. Anyways, he finally and reluctantly looks up on the computer if they have the color I was looking for in the back. Low and behold they do. He brings it up front. Says, yep here it is, new in box. I say wonderful. Please don't open it. He says, I have to open it. And so he does. Shows it to me. Its at this point, still in the box, I am loving the color. I am willing to buy it because at least I have seen it opened myself. I ask him to hold it for me for a bit while I get the money. Says he can't do that. I say, why cant you do that? Policy he says. So I say, so your telling me, you cant let me go get the money to purchase the guitar and not sell it? He says, I have to put it on the wall. I say, WHY do you have to put it on the wall? It was in the back before you looked it up. Policy he says. This goes on for at least 20 minutes. He then takes off the wrapping, throws out the cord and paperwork and box and puts the guitar up on the wall. I couldn't even believe this crap was happening. I come in to buy a new guitar and number one they fight with me about giving me a new one and number 2 they wont keep the thing in a box for an hour for me? It was a very vindictive experience. I told myself I would never shop there, but I have to if I want a Gibson, either that or make a 2 day trip to get one. lol Oh and to top it off, the guitar they were trying to sell me ended up being something someone brought back to the store. Found that out from a pro audio guy in the store.
Thundergod
I wouldnt buy one of the rack... if they want to sell you that one send them to hell (or ask for a very goood offer), that guitar has probably been there for a long time and has been played by lots of fools that had no intention of buying it and so didnt treat her with the proper respect and care. Ask them for one new in the box, if the salesguy wont give you one ask the manager, the minute he realizes you are not going to buy the one they have on display he will give you what you want. Thundergod
Gibsons ship from the factory with case goodies' date=' most stores remove them and just give ya a random case. If you just got a new guitar and nothing was included I would go back (or when your in the area) and let them know that customer service told ya what should have been included like the small wrench for the T-bar , etc... Below is a picture of what your normally would be getting [img']http://i3.iofferphoto.com/img/item/961/199/63/Up1OM2Lhm4WWaTS.jpg[/img] Funny thing about that picture, its a real custom that the counterfeiters are using as a ploy to make their stuff look real. Quite the bait and switch, but its a great example of what should be included. I think only customs come with cables and cleaning stuff... standard USA models come only with the manual and TR tool... (and of course the pickguard and screws) but that's it... I read here a week ago that late 2008 and 2009's are coming with no TR tool.

I had a similar GC experience, I drive an hour to the closet GC with the full intent on buying a new 52 tele, I ask the sales guy if he has a new "un-opened" one in the back, he tells me 'no', we open all the boxes and inspect each guitar. I said , so you're telling me you open ALL the boxes, if I'm paying that much I want to be the first to open it, not someone else, then he said I can give you 10 percent off the wall model, I said thanks but no thanks, I'll find one somewhere else , new in the box , and I don't care if I have to pay full price. He was sooo pushing the wall model. I beleive if you buy a new guitar (no matter the cost), you should be the first to open it, so take your time and get the one YOU want. Not the one the salesman wants to sell you. Good Luck.

phil325
I bought mine secondhand at a local shop and that still came with an unassembled pickguard with screws for it but no truss rod tool, manual or CoA. The pickguard creme didn't really match the pickup rings so I never had it put on which in the end saved me from facking up the beautiful finish. I instead have one of those no-drill pickguards that are just amazing.

kman1980
Just got my new LP two days ago from an authorised dealer in Melbourne, Australia. It's an April 2008 LP Standard. It also just came with the pickguard, manual, packingslip/inspection tag and a truss rod tool. No lead or cloths for me I'm afraid!

Im just saying... A fake is a fake. It doesnt matter if he throws in a truss rod tool or not, its still the same piece of Chinese sh!t that it was before he knew what came in the case. Besides, this guy seems legit to me. Guitar Center only screws over legitimate musicians.

kelv_w
received my standard'08 yesterday but no TR. Just the checklist, screws, scratchplate, straplock, a small allen key which I'm not sure what it is for and the ROBOT manual. Very similar stuff even if you get the Studios. Anyway the shop decided to throw in a Gibson strap
Carbonite
LOL. Um, no. I am wondering so I don't get ripped off myself. Thanks for the replies guys. So the guitar they are trying to sell me is missing a checklist and a truss rod adjuster. I think I will just persist that I will be getting an unopened box. And will be driving to another Guitar Center. A tad farther but probably worth it. EDIT: Hey, does anybody buy their guitars online at all? Do they ever send out floor models? I mean, do you get a brand new in the box guitar? And if so, do they double box it? Maybe I could go that route and and finally be rid of guitar center forever. Only thing is, I wont be able to open it in the store myself and test it out on the amps.

Not sure if GC really keeps their expensive guitars under wraps in the stock room (I know that the ones near me don't). And most importantly you want to be able to play one first before you buy. I got my '05 at GC and it didn't come with the checklist but came with a truss rod adjuster. My '08 came with both but I got that at the HOG in Rochester. I'm OK with not getting a checklist (all guitars that have left Gibson are checked). Check the intonation, action, fret buzzing, etc. Even ones that come directly from Gibson right out of the box may need to get adjusted, so I'm not sure if you're really getting much by having a checklist in hand.
