Sg Special '69

Recommended Posts

So i bought this one back in 2012

Payed 1200$ for a beat up '69 Sg.

A bit much considering it was not in good shape.

Tuners was a joke, electronic and pickups (dimrzio) needed to be replaced. Frets was worn down.

So i decided to be patience, and take it bit by bit.

So it did't feel so expensive

Now i'm finally at the end, it's and awesome guitar.

Things i'm done over the years

Kluson Deluxe tuners

New frets

-D.allan powerage T-Top pickups

Crazy parts Maestro Vibrola(long version)

Switchcraft and CTS electronic

witch hat knobs

Faber Wraparound bridge

So i know a lot of money, but over the years it don't feel so bad.

And i always wanted a vintage guitar

Got a few sg's and a Les paul a Gretsch and a strat.

And hands down, in the coach unplugged the '69 sg beat 'em all. Sounds great plugged to, but the difference really shines unplugged

Awesome looking, even though it's beat up looks better that way. How do the "Powerage" pick-ups sound? I've been looking for a good pair. I've got an 1994 SG special and love it. Keep rocking.

About same output as a 57 classic, crisp and clear with a bite

Vintage feel and it sounds a bit different than the 57 classic, sounds cool.

Yea man Special's are cool

Nice guitar mate. I have a 69 Epi - basically the SG line with a different body and headstock shape - it has an extremely thin (measured across the nut) neck and board - is your the same? I quite like it but it takes a bit of getting used to the close string spacing. Superb taper though.

Thanks man

Yea same narrow neck

How are the pups? I am looking to take out the 490's in my SG Special and want to try something I have never had before. I've tried Lindy Fralin's, which are great. Rio Grande's, which I also like. DiMarzio's not a fan. Seymours, also not a fan. A few different Gibson pups, 490's 57's, Angus, Iommi or what ever came with the Gibson I bought.

Sounds open with great string separation, sounds just right.

Chech it out http://www.dallenpickups.com/category_s/51.htm
