rct
GC has their big Presidents Day Sale this weekend. Our local emporium happened to have in stock ONE of the big sale guitars, and I went over and had a look. Stood in line to try it, two other mooks were there to look at the same thing. So I tried it out and as with any decent Mexican Fender, I liked the neck. But it was Friday, I was on my way to rehearse, I wanted to do some trading, I didn't have my trading fodder with me, and these other guys were going to buy it so I put it on lay away. lol. Went back yesterday with a little digital amp and some cabinet mics I'm not using any more. A Candy Apple Red Burst Strat HSS with Pau Ferro fingerboard. I like Pau Ferro and have always wanted one. Now I have almost all the fingerboards there are! 625 dollars all day every day, 499 on sale this weekend, no case and no bag. No big deal I have four strat/tele cases in the house so I'm good until I pick one up on a big sale. After trades, took it out the door for 234.19. Cheapo Squier money! Put some straplocks on it and cleaned it up. It is screaming for a white pearl guard. I'll put some strings on it tomorrow and take some of my award winning pictures of mine, until then: rct

Rabs
Got to love a Strat, like the color too. Sadly I don't.. I only ever owned one strat and really wanted to get on with it but never did.. If I ever go down the fender route again it will have to have a 12" radius and probably have a humbucker :) It was a nice guitar though but I sold it on after having it for about a year.. The guy who bought it from me was well chuffed with it..
brad1
Very nice!! I just recently purchased something very similar. Just waitin for it to get here and then I'll post my own thread. Yep, I think a white PG will look better also. Great score!:)
cody78
I knew it would be a Fender before I opened the thread. You are a traitor rct! Joking aside, that's a great deal and very nice Strat you got there.

sparquelito
I really love that guitar, rct. The finish is one I have never seen, and all the black feature on the black pick guard are VERY sharp and distinctive! Congrats, sir! :)

krock
Over in the UK Squier Affinity Strats cost more than you've paid for that Fender! Hope you enjoy it

pippy
Excellent score! 21 frets and 6-screw fulcrum so once you swap out the black 'guard and bridge p'up for your pearloid white 'guard and make it a SSS with white p'up covers and knobs it will be properly righteous!......lol!...... As for the finish; being CAR-'burst is it a metallic- or solid red? Looking forward to seeing the, erm, photographs...... Pip.
brad1
What strings are you putting on it? Just curious.

[laugh] [laugh] It is proper Candy Apple out on the edges and contours, that is, Red on top of Gold. Becomes clear Red towards the middle, maintains a bit of Gold Fleck in the clear. Just a bit. rct
rct
What strings are you putting on it? Just curious. Junky Fender 10 - 46. It'll be all wrong because it is set up for 9 - 42, but I'll make it work for a while. I'll get it over to Luther later this year. rct

Rabs
Faboo. Blocked the trem already. [laugh] rct Haha.. They are so useless (well unless set up expertly)... And yes I am exaggerating a bit before anyone gets upset over their wobbly arm system. :D I recently had a service job. The owner said the intonation was out and it goes out of tune all the time.. The intonation was actually spot on but I just had to inform him if he wants a stable guitar he basically needs to get rid of the tremolo :) (in a semi joking but serious way). rct
I hate them. My EJrctRW is set up for down only, and I occasionally put the arm on. When it gets set up properly later I'll have it set up down only, but I'll rarely put the bar on it. Hate them. Since 1974 or so. rct
