Californiaman Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 It is a thankless job to become a Forum Moderator. But it is an important job nonetheless. They are the keepers of the watch, the watchman of our domain. It is not lightly this yoke of servitude they must wear, no they are the watchmen whose diligence and faithfulness to the Forum we must thank. Moderators of the Forum, I salute you.
KSG_Standard Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Caliman, you are as mature, and fair minded as any "acoustic" dude, you would have made a good mod of the electric domain.
Dynadude Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Takes a cop mentallity. I couldn't do it. I have to say though, that it appears this forum isn't that heavily moderated. Sometimes it seems like there's none at all.
guitar_randy Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 they do well on this site. Some mods on some other sites I go to let the website authority go to there head and go little overboard
ckledzepplin Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 If gibson is looking for mods, i will throw my hat into the ring.
RichCI Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 It's a really thankless job. The moderators who do best tend to work behind the scenes so that you'd never know they're doing their thing unless you happen to be the one who did something wrong and, even then, they'll be up front and frank with you about it. One of the hardest parts about it is that, when you're a mod, you also become a representative of the web site that you are supporting; as such, that means you have to be on better behavior than everyone else.
deepblue Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Does a mod get a discount on all things Gibson?.....I didnt think so.
ksdaddy Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Does a mod get a discount on all things Gibson?.....I didnt think so. I wish! Actually, no, I don't wish that because I couldn't afford a Gibson strap nowadays, so giving me a discount off a Gibson would be like knocking $5K off an Escalade.... ain't gonna happen, so don't waste the ink printing the coupon. Being a moderator doesn't put us above anyone else. Ever. I sincerely hope people don't think that there's some kind of ranking or promotion involved like the military. I certainly don't feel that way and I'm just happy to be in here and sling my b.s. along with everyone else. And my b.s. has corn.
Murph Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 It says moderator under their avatar.. Yea. But...... Besides that? :-
AXE® Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I was trying to keep it simple for blue,he's from Illinois ya know ....:-
guitar_randy Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 censorship is for sisies. +1 A good mod knows not to get involved in every little thing
Californiaman Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Caliman' date=' you are as mature, and fair minded as any "acoustic" dude, you would have made a good mod of the electric domain.[/quote'] Well thank you my brother. I appreciate your kind words.
Californiaman Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 censorship is for sisies. Isn't that what the fairness doctrine is about. Most every liberal talk radio station, with the exception of I believe NPR, has failed. Mandating the fairness doctrine is essentially censorship of one groups views, whether those views are political, social, or religious.
Acousticat Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I think once you reach a certain # of posting you automatic be come an Moderators

Only Gibson staffers should be mods -- that's it.
James Allen Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Isn't that what the fairness doctrine is about. Most every liberal talk radio station' date=' with the exception of I believe NPR, has failed. Mandating the fairness doctrine is essentially censorship of one groups views, whether those views are political, social, or religious.[/quote'] Hey Californiaman, good points. Keep in mind the reason NPR hasn't failed is because they get GOV money to stay on the air. That and they go begging twice a year for all the libs to send them money to stay on the air. NOw, I occasionally listen to NPR because you gotta hear all sides to be able to hone your arguments, gather info, etc. But think about it, NPR is the perfect example of Socialism. The GOV gives them money they take from the people so that they can spew whatever they want. Then, when that's not enough, they beg for it (of course the elitist libs are glad to give so that they can have thier huggy feely, left wing, hate anything that doesn't fit into thier worldview ideas propogated). NPR likes to slant it so that anyone who isn't liberal seem like close minded rednecks who are ignorant. Present factual news to me and I'll make up my own mind about how I feel about it. I don't need SPIN. If I want entertainment with my news, then I go looking for Rush and Boortz, etc. Otherwise, just give me the facts, I'm an adult that can understand how events are shaping the world. I don't need talking points from either side.
