10K-DB
I was just looking @ the SG Flying Eagle,,,,wow. beautiful is an understatement.
SteveFord
http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2018/Custom/SG-Flying-Eagle.aspx Seems to be quite the bargain at $8300.
darling67
Meh! Looks over-done. Who'd want such an instrument—save for a collector who'd just put it in a display case? I'm not even taken by the finish. SG's should be solid or burst finishes. Give me a $1500-$2000 workhorse SG any day. But if I were to spend more $$$ than I usually would for a guitar... those "Bohemian" SG's are sweet! Beautifully understated—as an SG should be. kelly campbell
I like it but just kinda ok, not wild about it and I see no reason it should cost that much.
charlie brown
Meh ...more overpriced, gaudy, collector "sssstuf!" But, if you have the yearning, and the ready cash...Go For it!! I wouldn't mind having that black (2017) SG Custom, if it was about 500 bucks less expensive. But, I have MY favorite SG's already! So, I'm Good! Karloff
Yes it is, but not so beautiful a price. So why is Gibson in trouble again? exactly
Big Bill
Serious question. WHO buys these guitars? Some of them are nice, but the prices are just outrageous. I can see somebody finding this really sweet and might sink up to $4,000 at best. Are there some drunk rich guys that stumble across these advertisements and purchases these on a impulse? Are there some drunk rich guys that stumble across these advertisements and purchases these on a impulse? these are just not "player" guitars IMHO.. to me, guitars like this are "glass case" pieces that are more suited to be in a museum or hanging on some hedge fund managers den wall than on a guitar stand ready to plug into a marshall or fender deluxe. Give me a good SG or LP standard, and I'm as happy as a clam in a salt water marsh.

charlie brown
But its got an ebony fingerboard! LOL And, so does my Epiphone "Inspired by '55 Les Paul Custom," which I paid right at $600 bucks for. Made in China, obviously, but still, a very nice guitar, especially for that price range! Not a Gibson, of course, but it's not at $6,000+ dollars, either! CB

Dub-T-123
It really bothers me that every SG that a mere mortal can afford has the wrong body. That Custom looks great, I just don’t want to pay $2K more for a bound headstock and different inlays.. My favorite guitar is an SG with the wrong body. Looks like crap compared to a proper SG, but I still love it. If Gibson could make a proper SG standard for close to $1500 I would consider buying

Looks like crap compared to a proper SG, but I still love it. If Gibson could make a proper SG standard for close to $1500 I would consider buying By "Wrong Body" do you mean without the early '60's beveling and horn tapering? If so, I agree! Luckily, for me, Gibson did make those body changes, back to the original spec's, in 2013! I bought 4! LOL Never regretted that decision, at all. This year, I bought 1 more...the 2018 SG Jr. It too, has the early '60's beveling and horn tapers! The only thing that's different, on it, from my very first Les Paul (SG) Jr. is the "script" logo, on the 2018, and no "Les Paul Junior" lettering on the headstock, and individual tuners, instead of 3 on a strip, as the '61's had. But, to me, it's "close enough," for a non Custom Shop version, and without the CS PRICE, to go with it. Plays like a dream, was "perfect" fit and finish wise, and the single P-90 is awesome! I actually found one (at Sweetwater) that had the same (basic) body grain pattern, as my old original '61. And, there is absolutely NO "neck dive," with the new one, that I received! So, I'm a very happy camper, these days, SG wise! CB
