Dang! Can't you let me have a half hour with my newly unboxed T50 before you throw this at me?

That's alright, tomorrow is what I call a guitar day. 30 inches of snow by noon. Nothing to do but stay and play.

I wonder if I'd trade all/most of my guitars for a Banner J that sounded like that.

Sorry Dan if you thought you could buy one!

Long gone to hopefully good homes!

I thought some might like to watch the videos.

I also did some sums that don’t add up, so glad they are sold and others expensive and hard to find!

Now I grabbed a few guitars that speak to forget the Banners and gave them a bit of a belt....ha! Lowden LSE1 in my lunch break, very expressive 25 years old.....Lowden S35 for practice after work, also 25 years old and wonderful sound....59 LG3 for some plugged in songs, phew........just then packed up the old 37 L-0 after plunking it for about 3/4 hour in front of the muted TV (1am here), and that is the perfect time to play the L-0. It is not a loud guitar at all, but...TONE plus! And it smells like an old cigar case in a sea chest! So those Banners are great, but I’m going well, thanks very much! [biggrin]

Flattop Monday?

Monday morning here in Aust!

Here is another gem from Norman's Rare Guitars - those 2 in the first posts have caused me to play my 1937 Gibson L-0 a lot since Friday! I wouldn't say no, no, to those Banners, no way..but my heart does lie with the L.., the big L, L-0 that is [thumbup]

Mine doesn't have the 'zing' of this one, projection? But I to,d you mine is better though? Why? Because it is right here! Mine to play! No buying/delivery/tryout traumas. It is here and I can’t believe it sometimes!

Fabulous, look out L-0 lovers, and by the way it is long sold.

and a bonus video - another at Norm's - 32 Gibson L-00 black, also long sold don't don't get ya hopes up:

Alright, I'll play. I dug up three old recording (about 8 years ago) that include our 43 Southerner Jumbo.

I mostly play this guitar and other banners with finger picks, although mostly now I flat pick bluegrass -- no banners there.

Here is our theme song

And a couple of Carter Family songs.

Here is picture of the guitar. 1943 mahogany SJ with a baseball bat neck and no truss rod.

Let's pick,

Thanks Tom!

Wonderful guitar, can I borrow it?

Here is another video from Norms - I thought I would post a 1957 Gibson J45 to show/hear the differences from the Banners.

I love this 57 too, dangerous there is a very expensive 58 for sale an couple of hours drive from me. I wonder if they would trade for it! ( leg or something ).... <_<

"Here is another gem from Norman's Rare Guitars.. the big L, L-0" That moves me. Tight and focused. The Js sound loose and dry to this ear. Fwiw, I played an L00TV last fall that was very similar. Good buy, if you can find one.
