NSD (New speaker day)

I got myself a Weber signature AlNiCo for my Deluxe to replace the WGS ceramic which I put in when I built it. I must say, for a cheap(ish) speaker, it is very good and brings out a bit more "sparkle" from the amp. It breaks up nicely too...

Amazing how you can totally alter the experience of playing through an amp with a different speaker....

I have a 70s Fender Vibrochamp. Replaced original speaker with a Weber Signature (small-magnet, budget range) 10-12 yrs ago. Great clean but not good on break-up.

Last year I replaced that with a Jensen. Bigger magnet, much better, earlier break-up; suddenly the whole amp is livelier and IMO tone is better too.

The ohmage is higher than it should be - Vibrochamp has a weird ohmage (3.2) and the Jensen is 8 ohms. Weber have some very fine-looking 4 ohm Vibrochamp speakers on their site -

....and if I had the spare cash I'd be tempted, but how much difference would it make?

The Weber is the budget one and the amp breaks up a LOT earlier than the WGS. This it to be expected as the Weber is 25 watts AlNiCo and the WGS 75 watts ceramic. Both are 8 Ohm. I am yet to really push the Weber, but as you say, the cleans are really nice with a full tone. My 335 sounds very sweet indeed.
