IanHenry
I picked up a NOS 2013 Les Paul R8 yesterday, my Birthday present from my Wife, but my Birthday isn't until December (I'm trying to convince her that it's not good for them to remain un-played for any length of time ). The guitar plays and sounds outstanding and is in Sunrise Tea Burst. Anyway here it is, sorry about the poor photography. Ian

IanHenry
Many thanks everyone. Surprisingly the neck is quite a bit smaller than the one on my 2014 Traditional, and yes my Wife is a treasure. Regards, Ian
pippy
Gorgeous, Ian! Many congrats on both the wife and the R8! I'm very happy for you. Play Long and Prosper! You mention the neck feels smaller than your Trad. I'm curious; do you know whether it is thinner back to front or is it because the shoulders are less pronounced?............ Pip. Hi Pippy, I haven't had the chance to compare them side by side, I'm only going off how they feel, but I'd say it is thinner back to front. Mr. Gibson
What a beautiful les Paul you have! What pickups come with that?
Black Dog
I've finally had a chance to look at your guitar on something other than my phone, which didn't do it justice at all. That really is a cool looking top. I like the VOS finish too. I go back and forth on that, gloss vs VOS. I like them both equally I think. The other aging is not for me at all, but the VOS looks good!

cody78
Gorgeous guitar. Is that the one you weren't sure you needed? If you still feel that way send it to me I've always wanted an R8, but have yet to own one. Played a couple of R8's in the past, plus an R9 too and was very impressed. I had a choice a few years back to either get an R7 goldtop, R8, R9 or a B7. I went with the B7 - '57 Custom/ 3 pickup with Bigsby option and what a fine guitar it is. I still would like an R8 though.
IanHenry
Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. Mr Gibson, the guitar's fitted with Custombuckers, it's one with the hide glue on the neck but I don't think it's hide glue on the Maple cap (used to use animal glue when I was serving an apprenticeship in fine cabinet making, we'd heat it up on a little stove, it stank it was vile) Yes Cody, I let my Wife talk me into it Ian
