RevDavidLee
Was hanging out at my favorite guitar store today and an older couple came in with a Guild Hard Case & said they had a guitar to sell. They were going to put it on consignment for $500 (which would net them $375). Once they opened the case and I saw how mint condition it was in - I asked them why no fret wear or scratches or wear marks - and they said the guy that bought it way back when was going to learn how to play, then gave up & it just sat in the case forever. The label showed it was built in the old Westerly, Rhode Island plant & so I grabbed it up immediately. It plays like butter and sounds uber delicious. Serial number seems to place it as an early 90's model (pre-Fender) and I am tickled to death. Here's some pics for your enjoyment. Even came with the original Guild Manual & a vintage strap! :o

Dub-T-123
Hey Rev does yours have the stealthy built in electronics? Mine has a output jack in the strap button, not sure what kindof system is in there, maybe a piezo?
brc
Guilds are great guitars. I bought an absolutely mint D50 in a pawn shop for $525.00 way back in 1987. These things have a nice big booming sound. It is still in mint, and the case also looks new Love my Guild
jedzep
Yep. I have had a few old Guilds, but my keeper is a 0/00 size spruce top Hoboken F20. Bought it cheap and fixed it up. I pick it up and play a lot.
RevDavidLee
I've got the same model. Do you know what strings are on it? Yep - the ones that were put on it back when it was purchased :) Seriously. I'm going to restring it tomorrow. Any recommendations?

EVOL!
Congrats on the new acoustic. What's the brand name on that strap? I used to have that exact one for my acoustic, lost it, and have not been able to find a replacement because I don't remember the brand name. Yes, I liked the strap that much. RevDavidLee
Fort Bryan guitar straps. I just googled it after looking at the brand name. They're everywhere! Some vintage, many are new. Saw a vintage (well if early 90's are vintage) one on Reverb. Enjoy shopping! :)

Dub-T-123
You made me look - no there is no jack or electronics of any kind on there. Which is fine with me. I guess there must have been two models. As you seem to know, you aren’t missing much with the stock electronics haha. I sometimes actually like the unnatural plasticy sounding electronics as an effect but it is not accurate to the sound of the guitar You made me take a look at mine too haha. Didn’t know the model name or that mine was made before the fender buyout, so thanks for posting

Congrats, Rev! Saw your post on the Guild forum Bro - I responded right away but since I'm new there - it seems to take a day or two before the moderators can review it to make sure I haven't posted something horrendous or pornographic before they allow it to be seen by the general public. Hopefully that process will go away soon. Hard to have an ongoing conversation there right now. And good to see a familiar person over there too! NHTom
Wow, nice catch Rev!!! I used to live in RI and worked in a guitar shop in the early 90's. Westerly made some great stuff. I've had people bring me in stuff from dumpster diving at the factory and with a little tlc, they made awesome players. I always figured if their dumpster stuff could play and sound that good, their "firsts" were amazingly good. Enjoy! NHTom
