Riffster
MY hat. Very unfitting end for the best hat I've ever had. I got up early this morning, had a cup of coffee, browsed the forum, got out and went for a hike at Radnor Lake here in town. Got on the ridge, I was feeling good... The weather is great, about 65 degrees so I decided to put the top down and drive to my favorite Indian restaurant in town. It got windy and as I am going through a shady part of town my hat flows right off my head, I looked in the rear view mirror and the hat had landed at the feet of a group of hobos. Thinking to myself "I owe it to the hat to comeback for it" takes me about 3 mintues to turnaround because of traffic lights and the hat is not where it landed and I just cruise through and have an uneasy stare with about 5 hobos... Then I think, what if I stop and ask for it? what is the worse it could happen? getting stabbed with a dirty needle? getting shanked? Then I remembered how crazy homeless guys are in Nashville. Last "incident" we had is when a homeless guy got on a bus full of tourists and took off on a wild ride with people on board... It was time to let go... at least I tried...headed to lunch and reminisced of the old times with my hat, there I was with "hat hair" having lunch... My last known pic with my hat...I have another Gibson hat but this was my Number One by far...

KSG_Standard
I've been working in the high tech field for the last 25 years and one of the traditions in the field has been to give employees and customers, polo shirts, hats and other clothes with the company logo and name embrodiered on the items. These are usually nice, well made clothes and we wore them as employees and we handed them out to customers as well. Each of the companies that I've worked for has been bought or has merged with one of our larger competitors over the years (Compaq-HP, Ascend Communications-Lucent Technologies-Alcatel, FORE Systems-Marconi, Etc...) so after the mergers/acquisitions, it's been my tradition to give away all of the swag clothes that I have to the homeless. When I lived in Denver, I gave away a box of Lucent Technologies hats, shirts and jackets to a homeless shelter in downtown Denver. I always got a kick out of seeing homeless folks wearing Lucent clothes...The homeless got new clothes and I got to express my derision over the merger decision. I just wanted to share... Mark
Use it as a tax credit. Is that a 335 or a Casino behind you?
retrosurfer1959
Should have stopped and offered a 10 dollar reward no questions asked for whoever returned your hat then they could have beat the tar out of each other trying to get the hat back to you... Sorry for your loss though I know the feeling I had a hat I wore all the time same story tooling down the road with the top down and it blew off I actually went back also but my poor hat had been run over a few dozen times before I got there it was trashed and unwearable. Riffster
Use it as a tax credit. Is that a 335 or a Casino behind you? Yea I should have gotten a receipt... It is a Casino, same as in my avatar. Very unique guitar. Gotta have a hollowbody in the herd. I would love a 335, actually a 355 would be even nicer. Riffster
My hat was dying anyway, I threw it in the washer many times and it was ragged. I have owned a convertible for 7 years and have made long trip on the highway and never lost a hat before...but there is always a first time... retrosurfer1959
Yep it's worth it for the ragtop though I've had convertibles for years and especially here in the southwest they can be a lot of fun for most of the year. Only time I won't put it down is the summer time AZ gets too darn hot a 80MPH blowdrier isn't any fun. I've lost a few hats over the years mostly on Motorcycles or in the Jeep though my cars are fine but the Jeeps airflow is different and it's tough to keep a hat on over about 50 mph worse than a bike somehow.
