Which guitars would you grab in a fire

Truthful answer is: "As many as possible."

My '81 Gibson V would be the first on the list. I've had it since 1984 and it is irreplaceable. Then, probably the Les Paul Tribute Goldtop w/P90's(love that guitar), Les Paul Traditional, Les Paul Standard, 2007 Flying V. I would be devastated if anything happened to any of my guitars.

If it meant risking my life, I would not bother.

I can find other fine guitars. If I could be sure of getting one out safely, it would be whichever one was within reach. If I was lucky enough to have a choice, I'd grab the Ric 650 Colorado.

I would record a short blues version of The Last Post as a tribute to my peers who perished clutching armfuls of guitars and post it here [tongue] ;)

Ermm.....

How can I put this tactfully? (i.e. there's going to be a 'but'....)

huh.gif

I don't want to be even slightly disrespectful towards someone whose band is a household name the world over and who has created an awful lot of very influential music for tens - indeed hundreds - of thousands of aspiring guitarists during the last 35 years or so but (told you so) did anyone else think his renditions of 'Oh Well (Pt. 1)' were total rubbish? OTOH perhaps he just didn't feel the need to show-off? Very Weird, though. Oh well.

Or is it just me who is being far too critical of a guy who is simply relaxed and shooting the breeze in a guitar-oriented interview?

But then again surely he would play the 'right notes' just from force of habit?

IDK. I'm a bit baffled.

It's superb that he uses 'Greeny' two or three times every gig, of course, and I'm glad he appreciates the thing as the historical artefact that it is.

Grab? The '95 R0 and the circa 1945 Antoine Di Mauro 'Modele Special Chorus' for me. Don't really mind losing the rest if I can save those two.

Pip.

This. Knowing how fast fire can spread, once all living things are out of the house, basically the rest is "fuel". Guitars can be replaced, people and pets cannot. That said, my Elitist Casino, and Masterbilit AJ500M.

Oh, for goodness' sakes, chaps; c'mon.... We ALL know that 'living entities' take precedence in such a scenario. No Brainer.

Sillies.

May I humbly suggest that everyone else who wishes to respond accepts that saving life and limb is a Given and, subsequently, they can dispense with the Dog/Goldfish/Puma/Orang-Utang/Pony/Wife flim-flam and simply go with the flow?

I've never noticed how very camp he is. If I met him randomly I would assume he was gay (not that that is an issue for me, but I would). I agree with pippy too, watching him play was like watching a teenager in a guitar shop. His technique even appeared overly deliberate and conscious, like a beginner. How odd.

I'm a little gutted to learn that he lost the switch tip. Sad aren't I.

Oh,and my R8 first, then an accoustic which really belongs to my mother (she can't, has never and never will play, my father bought it in 1969 (if memory serves) as her wedding present but she never learned), then my dobro, then the rest.

Really? I mean really? There are idiots out there who think everything they see on the internet is "gospel" so to speak. Major fire damage is not something to be toyed with. Stepping off of soapbox now, and yes, I see where you're coming from. All I ask is that you see my point of view as well.

My first thought was, "Nancy Wilson, you have let yourself go!" But I googled her and she still looks freakin beautiful...

Lol.. One of the comments on the video on youtube said something like " He looks more and more like Dio as he gets older"

Wife first. Then call fire department which is 3 blocks from my house, then whip out fire extinguishers & stop what I can. That having been said I would probably burn up in the fire because I have a butt load of guitars I love - not based on cost but based on sentimental value. Like the guitars I gigged with when my brother was alive and in the band. I no longer have any pets - after losing three of them over the years, I can't take losing another one. All that having been said - if my six precious grandkids were here visiting - they (& the wife) would be first & to hell with all the gear. I hate questions like this because they evoke such horrid thoughts & visuals. Stop it Rabs! :)

Did anyone actually watch the video I posted?

I guess its my fault cos of the thread title, but in the vid they talked about the fires in LA and that he actually had fair warning to leave his house... It wasn't on fire so he had time to grab some stuff before.

But also actually the main reason I posted the vid is cos he brings out the Greeny/Moore burst and I thought that would be of interest to some.
